  • Tasty and delicious
I’ve been trying to be good and limit myself to only 1 to 3 of these delicious snacks a day. I’m doing this partly because I don’t want to gain any extra weight and also to make them last a little longer. These TokyoTreats arrived in a giftable box with a sticker seal to keep the box closed. On the bottom of the box, they included a sheet of paper listing the standard nutrition facts for each item in English, along with a sticker showing the “best before” date of 21 May 2026. I received the box in early March 2026, so having 2–3 months to eat everything is not a problem. Additionally, each item inside the box has its own date on the packaging, and those dates varied quite a bit, so I’m guessing the date on the box reflects the earliest one. The calories for each treat are also listed. The lowest-calorie item had 15 calories, while the highest had 110 calories, with most probably averaging around 40 calories. It looked like all the items were carefully arranged so they would fit perfectly in the box. There was no additional padding inside, but there also wasn’t any extra space for things to move around. They also included a booklet that identifies all the snacks that’s written in English. Each snack has a short description along with information about common allergens, possible trace ingredients, and whether it is suitable for vegetarians. The booklet is very helpful since I can’t read any of the Japanese writing on the snack wrappers. I haven’t finished the box yet, but I’ve enjoyed the different flavors of everything I’ve tried so far. In fact, I’d gladly eat any of them again—I haven’t found one yet that I don’t like. The price is a little steep, but it makes a great occasional treat or a nice gift for someone who appreciates trying something a little different or who enjoys TokyoTreats. ... show more

  • Lots of tasty fun surprises, but a little expensive
My spouse and I love going to our local Asian markets and trying new snacks. This TokyoTreat Japanese Dagashi Snack Box is right up our alley. The box has fun, colorful printing to get you excited about what’s inside. The large, informative guide is very handy to have when you try each item as it provides descriptions and allergy information - necessary when the packaging isn’t in the same language you may speak. The book is divided into flavor profiles - sweet, savory, etc. That was incredibly helpful when I was trying to decide where to start because I could choose something I was in the mood for. There’s even a QR code linking to substitutions if your box doesn’t contain everything in the book. My particular box had 4 substitutions. There’s a huge variety of snacks, from crunchy to chewy to sweet to salty and everything in between. The two of us are sharing each snack and discussing them, 2-3 items per day to make the box last longer. Some items have multiple pieces in the package, and sometimes we have to cut a single piece in half in order for each of us to have a taste. So far I haven’t found anything we didn’t like. Also, there haven’t been any items that we’ve already had, which is astonishing because we’ve visited many, many Asian markets together in several cities & states over the past 30 years. I do find it a bit on the expensive side. At $30 US per box of 30 snacks, that averages out to $1 per snack. Considering they’re all small, individual snack-sized portions, I think it’s a bit high. For example, I wouldn’t spend $1 on a single gummy candy, a single cookie the size of a quarter, a single cheese puff, a single piece of gum, or two pea-sized chocolates. Nothing in the package was worth more than $1 to make up for/average out the cost of the smaller items. I would pay $15 for this box of interesting treats, but not $30. Having a curated box solves the issue of missing out on things I might not have chosen to buy for whatever reason. For example, I probably wouldn’t have purchased the BBQ Twist Corn, but it was so good! ... show more

  • Loved every bite, it didn't even last 2 days in our house.
My family and I really enjoyed this snack box from TokyoTreat. There was a lot of variety in the flavors, a good mix of savory and sweet items, and I really liked the detailed handout guide with information about the items, as well as their possible allergens, listed clearly in English. The packaging is, of course, in Japanese, so the guide was vital in knowing what an item was, its flavor, and allergens. The items were fun and incredibly tasty, it was hard to decide who got what thing when some stuff couldn't be split among us. The snack box didn't last 48 hours in our household before it was gone. The chocolate treats were just amazing and the corn puff pizza snacks still have me craving more very badly. My only two complaints were the actual nutritional information is printed in the smallest font size known to man, and it's taped to the outside of the container. I am not sure if it's actually meant to be read, but I found it impossible to decipher, so the nutritional values/ingredients are a mystery to me. My second complaint was the size/amount of some of the items. They were so good, but so small, and many products were just one or two items per package. I realize I am used to giant amounts, but I really wish many of these items came with duplicates, or maybe just a bit more in the bags. I will note that our box was best before May 21st of this year, so it was coming up quickly on it's best by date. However, none of the items tasted stale or off, and none of the items had expired packaging. It was also eaten so quickly that I don't think I could have gotten the items to last till May 21st if I had really tried. If someone was to get this for a future gift, or to save up and eat slowly, then the fast-approaching best by dates may complicate longer-term storage before eating or gifting. ... show more
