    • Does NOT work in 2017 iMac 27" 5K

I ordered 2 kits of 2x4GB sticks to put in my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017). Initially I only ordered one kit since my iMac already had 2x4GB sticks in it and 2 empty slots. That resulted in the system becoming extremely unstable, and eventually took down the filesystem. What's strange is that this ram would work fine if it was the only ram installed, but if it was mixed with the OEM ram, the system would be unstable. Thinking it was a matching issue, I doubled down and ordered another kit (same item, same seller). The second kit was actually not identical to the first (different packaging, different CAS latency). When installing both kits, the result was the same: unstable and eventually took the filesystem down with it. At this point I suspected one of the ram slots on my brand new iMac was bad, but as a last ditch effort before hauling everything to the Apple store, I decided to buy a kit of 2x8GB sticks from OWC. I completely expected that to not work since not only was it not OEM ram, but it was a different capacity than the OEM sticks. However, I am relieved to see that this ram from OWC works perfectly fine. My recommendation? If you're simply upgrading the ram in your computer and will only 2 sticks of ram in at a time, this is probably going to be fine. However, if you're upgrading an iMac, just save yourself the headache! As far as I know the iMac is the only computer that has 4 DDR4 SODIMM slots, so this is probably just an issue with iMac specifically. I would also ask the seller to remove iMac 2017 from the compatibility chart. ... show more

Opened RAM door on back of iMAC Moved the existing Apple supplied 2 x 4GB sticks into the other slots Inserted the Timetec 2 x 16GB into the slots previously occupied by the Apple supplied memory Started iMac, it reported 40GB RAM Restarted iMac while holding Control+D and ran hardware diagnostics to test the RAM, no issues found Now thinking about buying a couple more to replace the Apple 2x4GB to take it up to 64GB ... show more

I needed more memory then the 16GB that came with the system. Was thinking to remove the 2 X 8GB but realized that they are on the other side of the mother board and that it will require to take it apart so decided to just add these to the system. Easy. 5 min install. Works perfect with the Stock memory.     • My laptop is faster

UPDATE It worked fine for two days then today it went into a crash loop citing Memory Management as the error. It went through the restart process about 8 times before I shut it down, took out the remaining older RAM chip, put back in the one I'd taken out to put in the 8 gb one from Timetec and same crash loop. Shut down the PC, took out the Timetec and put in the old RAM and no problems! I've never had RAM go bad so quickly! It's usually YEARS before something happens to the RAM, most times you change out the PC before the RAM goes bad. I have an HP laptop with 8 gb of RAM (two 4 gb chips) that was slowing down, especially when it was downloading updates, and when I had multiple browser windows open. It got very frustrating because even typing was being affected. I would type practically a whole sentence and it still wouldn't appear on screen. I started closing down some of the webpages and it would help a little. I already set up virtual RAM, so because the HD and memory would sometimes run high I decided to increase the RAM. Now I have 12 gb of RAM and it's astonishing how much faster it is! It's almost like a new PC again. I might just max out the RAM by buying another 8 gb chip. ... show more

This a simply upgrade for most laptops and inexpensive! I did a lot of research on Timetec before I made this purchase and the reviews here and elsewhere were encouraging. It has only been a few hours since I installed the new memory but the things I noticed were: it was recognized immediately, and load time of programs is slightly quicker (I really only increased RAM by 8GB, 12GB to 20GB). I expect I will notice the true difference when I am truly multitasking and switch between programs. I really just wanted to max out the memory in this laptop And with Timetec being inexpensive, having a good warranty and best of all MADE IN U.S.A. this was a no-brainer. ... show more

    • Worked in a pinch!

I usually only buy Crucial memory due to well known compatibility. However, for some reason stock is depleted. I needed to upgrade an associates laptop and get it out the door. I happened to come across Timetec and checked their memory finder. Luckily, this company makes compatible RAM. The memory worked well in a Lenovo Thinkpad, certainly sped up the machine. The RAM appeared to be good quality, easy to install, and the machine did not hiccup. The cost is slightly lower than other brands, which is nice. EDIT - Crucial is harder to get for some reason. Timetec memory has been equally as good. In the systems where this RAM is installed, there have been no issues. EDIT: I received a couple of defective sticks. Also, I have had reports that two laptops with this memory installed, randomly shutdown. ... show more

I tried every possible combination to install these. I even tried taking out my original memory completely and only using these two 16gb sticks. Nothing. Computer would not start until I took these out. The description states Apple - iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch (2017) in the compatibility list. I see a separate listing now that is more mac specific so I think this original listing is wrong or these ram modules are defective. Frustrated. I just wasted an hour of my life. ... show more
