These Timberlands are definitely a snug fit like the other reviews mentioned but my foot is narrow so they worked great for me. I purchased these for a trip to Gatlinburg. I did wear them around inside for the few couple of days as I was afraid the tightness on my feet would hurt. They went from a tightness to just a snug fit which is what I wanted so that my heel wouldn’t slide at all while out on the hiking trails. These shoes are great. I use my hiking boots every day on city streets and wooded terrain walking dogs 2-3 miles. They have proven to be waterproof and they are nice and lightweight, so I dont feel like I am clodding about. I like that they don't have an abundance of unnecessary seams. My last 2 pairs of expensive hiking boots I bought from REI tore within 6 months of use along front seams, though still usable, are no longer waterproof. They grip reasonably well on snow and ice and are great on hills and rocks, wet or dry. My only complaint is that the top two laces sometimes pop out of the hooks as I think they are placed too far forward on the ankle. I have very narrow ankles so that may be part of the problem. It took very little time to wear in. I do need to add arch supports as I have high arches and these do not provide maximum arch support. ... show more

Hiking boots are expensive so these were a steal! i was worried about the color but it’s pretty subtle. i got 8 wide and there is lots of room for thick socks. i thought the arch support would be better based on the look but there is enough room for my orthotic so its a non-issue. i plan to beat them up on lava hiking trails and these seem like they would hold up well. i would recommend if you get a good sale. ... show more

I love these boots. I went to Disneyland and was told it was going to rain, so I bought these. The insoles that came with the boots had absolutely no padding. I ordered my normal size and they fit perfectly. I have plantar fasciitis so I did add an insert when I wore them hiking in the woods. They were extremely comfortable. I haven't gotten them wet yet and they are still very new, but as of right now I give them 2 thumbs up!

Did a 14 mile hike today and these passed the test. Im usually a size 6.5 but went with the 7 so i can wear thicker socks. They are not heavy and are pretty stylish. I replaced the insoles with my walking insoles to make it even more comfortable. A great buy for not trying them on first.

I needed new hiking boots and have a very thin foot so the bulky normal ones make me trip over my feet. These are lightweight and snug and fit perfect even with thick socks. I took them out in the rain for their first wear and they were fine, my feet stayed dry. I would definitely recommend these boots especially if you don't like bulky shoes. ... show more
