I bought my first pair at REI after getting a fitting. I tried on more expensive brands but these fit my slightly narrow feet best, and while leather, they are lightweight so as not to weigh you down. They were comfortable right away but I did find they needed a little breaking in before a 12-15 mile hike. I learned this the hard way and got a blister on my toe. But none after! The boots have been on 4 Grand Canyon multi day backpacking trips, walked in many creeks, and climbed up many rocky rocky terrain. They did really well on ice while hiking last April in the Grand Canyon. I have wore mine at least a couple hundred miles and after a year and half had to retire them. They are super sturdy but I just wore them out. Just got a new pair, they look so nice, time to start getting them ready for serious hiking. If you have a wide foot, not for you. If you need a cushiony feel, not for you. They are very comfortable, and even after 5 days of wearing them while backpacking, my feet never hurt. I also wasn’t quickly slipping in to sliders and out of them as other hikers were at the campgrounds. I wear a size 9 in hiking boots because of steep terrain and the same for these. ... show more

I'm on my feet all day, and these are the only boots that are comfortable enough, not heavy like some. I wear them almost every day, but mostly indoors. I last purchased them in August of 2024. This is my third pair in 5 years. The sizing chart is accurate. You can see in my photos that they are holding up well, considering how often they are worn. Love these boots. Bought them for trip to rural Ireland where we would be hiking in mud, etc. They were relatively lighter weight than similar boots and were comfortable wearing them all day. Waterproof in heavy rain. True to size. Would buy again.

Absolute great quality fit perfectly and you can wear them with so many different pants styles. I've had various types of hiking boots, and these are by far my favorite. They take a bit to break in, but once they're broken in, they're perfect. They're waterproof (up until you hit well above the laces), the arch support is phenomenal, the rubber grips on the bottom are solid, and they take a long time to wear out. I bought these boots in Dec 2024, for some hikes I planned to do over the summer, based on the reviews I read here. I absolutely love the fit, comfort and support these boots provide. However, 3 months of breaking in the boots, walking the dog on suburban pavement, have worn out the tread down to almost nothing along sections of the sole. I’m slipping and sliding all over wet terrain, now that it’s summer. Completely disappointed in the quality of these boots. Buyers beware. ... show more
