  • Great Album
Whether you are reliving the past or discovering this for the first time Tiffany is one of the best debut albums from a female pop star ever. When this album was first released I was a high school kid and liked the pop/ballad mix that fit the 80's to a T. A friend mentioned Tiffany recently and that sent me here for the MP3 and what a shock. I was expecting the teen pop voice that Debbie and the others of the time had and it seems all young singers still have. Instead I was met with a sometimes raspy sometimes delicate voice that is beyond the years of Tiffany when this was recorded. Should've Been Me shows that young, raspy voice that some call Stevie Nicks but I think maybe closer to Bonnie Tyler, Danny is very polished and was the first single released, Spanish Eyes is also very polished and smooth with a great bass line. Feelings of Forever is perhaps the best song on this album, her voice is flawless and I can't help but think that being the 5th single released hurt it in the charts as it struggled into the top 40. A "power ballad" that also had the best video from the album. This is followed by Kid on a Corner which is the song I like the least. In this one it almost seemed that they realized that she was a kid and wanted her to sing a song like one. I saw Him Standing There puts a 80's pop twist to the Beatles and manages to pull it off wonderfully. Johnny's got a good beat but is only average as is Promises Made. I Think We're Alone Now takes Tommy James into the 80's and again Tiffany pulls it off. I can't listen to this without seeing her as a teenager hopping around the stage and having fun. The album ends with another ballad, Could've Been. While I think Feelings of Forever is the best song here, Could've Been is a close second. Her voice shares the pain and hurt as she doesn't just sing but shares the story with us in a way that feels personal. ... show more

  • Harmless Fun
I bought this as kind of a curiosity as I remember the kids listening to it way back when. This is not profound music but it is enjoyable listening...the cuts, save for the cover of "I Saw Her Standing There", were all new and this was cutting edge pop at the time. And after a quarter century "Promises Made" and "I Think We're Alone Now" still have a great beat while "Could've Been" remains a great song. Now, of course, it would be tame...the pretty girl has all her clothes on and the lyrics are clean. This album is not, and doesn't pretend to be, 'great music', and Tiffany makes no pretentions of being Anna Netrebko, (Does Anna pretend to be Tiffany? Another topic...) but it is a nice trip down memory lane that you can listen to without blushing. And it's WAY better than much of what passes for music now. All in all a fine debut for a girl who if she didn't turn into an icon has given us some fun music over the years. ... show more

  • Good album from an 80's teen idol.
This is a good 80's album that still holds up over thirty years later. Tiffany was a teen pop star that had one of those massive brief successes that seemed to last from about 1987-1990 before gradually fading away. Another mutual teen pop star that was experiencing a similar success at the same time was Debbie Gibson. I liked both of them. In contrast to today's Ariana Grande's and Britney Spears, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson proved you could make fun pop music without having to wear a g-string on stage and bend over and it's still good. The Tiffany album was her debut and her biggest success. Today it has some hits and misses, but is mostly a good album. My favorites were the songs that weren't big hits like "Danny", "Promises Made", "Spanish Eyes" and "Feelings of Forever". They have that great classic 80's sound that still sounds good. I didn't care much for her Beatles cover of "I Saw Him Standing There" or "Johnny's Got the Inside Moves", as her vocals are on the screeching side that it doesn't work for me compared to the first four songs I listed where the production and her vocals are pitch perfect and carry you away. "Kid on a Corner" is forgettable and on the bland side. And of course on this are her big hits, "I Think We're Alone Now" and "Could've Been", which are considered classics today. So there are 6 good songs out of 10 for me on this, and the 4 that aren't that great are still listenable and okay as a bonus. ... show more

  • Team Tiff!!
I was about 11 or 12 when this album came out and I got it on cassette tape. I may loose some hardcore points and have to turn in my man card but it's Tiffany, my childhood crush, haha. Tiff has a great voice, really more of a soulful rock voice than a lot of her pop peers from the 80s. Maybe that is why I always liked her, since I'm a Rock and Metal fan. This album has a special place in my heart, great memories of my childhood. Even though it is more pop oriented there are se rockers on here too. I wish she jas done more of her own writing in the early days, but hey there really isn't a bad song on this album. Her later albums, post 2000 w/ Color of Silence, we get to see more mature material for Tiffany. All her albums are great. That is coming from a guy who is all about Metal and Rock! So check her albums out. ... show more

  • Great pop album and nostalgia from 1987
I used to own this album on CD. But when I moved to the US, I couldn't bring all my library of books and CDs. I wanted to re-purchase the CD but apparently the CD is out of print and now it costs around $40 (ouch!). So I decided to purchase the MP3 version instead. I think this is a great pop album as a debut album from a teenager. Tiffany's commercial success didn't last very long but I think this doesn't change the fact that this is still a great album. I also own Debbie Gibson's Greatest Hits. They are both beautiful women now. ... show more
