I have a terrible history with USB 3.0 PCI-E cards. Not only expensive, their quality is horrible. They go bad between three days to less than a year. After trying many brands, the INATECK 4-port exhibited some semblance of adequacy - they actually last 1.5 years. The TIERGRADE, on initial impression, may replace the INATECK as "King of the Hill." Here is my evaluation: . . ADVANTAGES . 1. PRICE: They are the cheapest 7-port configuration. . 2. PERFORMANCE: At first, actual speed was impressive. The range was between 112 to 49 mb/s. Most common file transfers were in the 80 mb/s. This was much better than the INATECK's 60 mb/s average. . Unfortunately, the speed dropped within 20 minutes to 27-30 mb/s and stayed. . 3. WARRANTY: The standard 12 months period is extended to 18 upon registration. . 4. COMPATIBILITY: My INATECK has a spotty record. On one of my ASUS motherboards, it performs at USB 2.0 speed only. The TIERGRADE does not have this problem. USB 3.0 is consistent. . 5. QUALITY: Amazon users rated this with their highest rating among the universe of USB 3.0 cards. . . DISADVANTAGES . 1. My evaluation will change, when the product exhibits any problems. Until then, there are no disadvantages. For this reason, I will stock up, whenever it goes on sale. . . ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- . . UPDATE: The following problems occurred in two computer cases. The card did not sit properly on the slot. I used pliers to bend the hold-down metal tab. The action still could not align the hold down screw to the computer case. As a result, the card was left unsecured and hanging. . There was also a small slant. For this reason, I could not get access to the outside ports. The only solution was to insert USB 3.0 cable extensions into the two inside-ports and thread their way outside via neighboring slot card openings. .     • Not quite what I thought, but good enough

Suppose I should have read reviews or asked a question before purchasing, but I was really looking for a power optional PCI card which I thought this was. Not a huge knock against it, but it did mean I had to root through my assorted cables to find a molex to sata power adapter to make it work without completely rerouting my power cables. That said, once installed, it works fine. The internal USB ports are a great way of hiding wireless/bluetooth dongles that will essentially never need to be removed and freeing up slots. The software included with it appears to be completely useless, but... meh. That can be uninstalled later. The only real concern I had was the packaging. This came in an unpadded brown box (inside the Amazon mailing envelope) and the PCI bracket was absolutely trashed in transit. I had to bend top and bottom against my desk to get it to slot into my case, but once in and connected it works perfectly. 5 stars for cost and usability but minus 1 for the completely sub-par packaging. ... show more

Two of the USB ports on my motherboard had stopped working so I needed a way to get some additional USB ports, particularly in the back of the computer. I found these cards on Amazon and thought it might be the solution. I was a little nervous about which one to purchase because the reviews and price points were all over the place. This model was a good price and seemed like it was well designed. I liked the way the USB ports were arranged compared to some of the other models. The ports are vertical rather than horizontal which allows more room for the connection. The item arrived as described. It was easy to install to one of my PCI Express slots. It came with a SATA Power cable but I ended up using one I already had from my power supply. My computer booted up with no problem and when I connected a peripheral it recognized it and so far has worked. I haven't measured speeds so I don't no how fast the connection is. One thing I noticed is that there are five USB connections on the outside of the card and two on the inside. The two on the inside are as useful. Overall, the card has worked so far and the price was very reasonable. I'd recommend it. ... show more

    • NO SUPPORT !! Did not allow PC to boot with devices plugged in.

Easy to install. It seemed to be a great product and everything I plugged in was recognized as it should. Then, with everything plugged in, I shut it down for the night and the next day my PC refused to boot. I removed this board and all was fine. Plug the board in and all was fine, however as soon as I tried to boot with certain USB devices plugged in, the PC would not boot. Tried their "tech support" and got NO REPLY so sent back for refund. The replacement from a different vendor works just fine. would NOT RECOMMEND due to the lack of support. ... show more
