Very visible deterrent. This wheel clamp is sturdy, easy to install and very visible. Like any device, a thief can remove it but it would take some time. Thieves want to get in and leave quickly. I think most thieves will just move on. I'm very happy with the clamp and the price is very reasonable.

I got this tire lock to add an extra layer of protection to secure my travel trailer. The description states, “the trailer wheel lock is adjustable and fits tires with widths ranging from 7" to 10-1/2". The width of my tire, as measured with a standard tape measure, (please see picture) is less than seven inches. Theoretically, the lock should fit on my trailer tire because the tire is a bit smaller than seven inches. As you can see in my other picture, the jaws of the lock do not meet in the center of the tire rim. The jaws only contact the outside of rim; thus, the tire lock is only contacting the rim of the tire on both sides of the tire and does not lock securely in the middle of the wheel and can easily be knocked off with a hammer or rubber mallet. I was puzzled as to why the tire lock would not fit, even though it met the seller’s parameters for fitment. I did a quick internet search and basically found out the overall width of the tire is not the same as the tread width of a tire. This is what I learned: All tire sizes are assigned specific rim widths upon which they are measured. This is called a measuring rim. Tires can often be mounted on a slightly narrower or wider wheel (rims). The actual tire section width depends on the wheel width which the tire is mounted on. The rule is basically that a tire section width changes by 0.2” for every 0.5”change in rim width, being reduced if mounted on narrower than measuring wheel and increased when mounted on wider wheels. That means the tire width is based on the wheel width. My tire rims are apparently wider causing the overall width on my trailer tire to be wider and not fitting into the rims of the wheels. I am not a mechanic or tire person, but this explanation seemed to be the answer to why the tire lock wouldn’t fit. I would recommend that the seller consider placing actual tire sizes this tire lock would fit instead of widths of tires. All of that being said, the tire lock is fairly light weight and brightly painted. The lock is located next the handle and lays a bit off the ground. If you live in area where it snows, the lock will be covered with snow if you do not store your trailer in a covered storage area. The lock has a cap to keep moisture and snow out. I still would suggest finding a tire cover that will fit over the trailer tire and wheel lock just to be on the safe side. The keys that came with the lock are different from other keys I have seen. I don’t really know how many keys like these are out there but at least they are not the universal CH751 key. As the tire lock fits my trailer tire now, it can be defeated fairly easily. I added it as another protection layer for my trailer. In addition to the tire lock, I use a very heavy-duty coupler lock that cannot be removed without power tools and a very determined thief. All the security measures can be defeated by a determined thief with the right tools. These measures will simply delay them or discourage them, and they will hopefully move on. Overall, wheel fitment notwithstanding, this tire lock is light weight, appears well made and is a great theft preventive measure for whichever application you may us it.

A good light-duty lock that adds some very visual deterrence. The lock enclosure is welded to the body of the lock and covered in rubber. This helps prevent ice from getting in and freezing the keyway. We've had no issues getting it on and off this winter. As others have stated, it probably would not prevent a very determined thief with unlimited time. it's going to slow down and make a would be thief look for an easier target.

I got this to help my boat trailer not be stolen if I have to leave it somewhere. While it will help, I am taking other measures due to a few issues. My boat trailer tires are fairly standard (18 foot boat) and even on the tightest setting this was still able to be moved on the tire. I had hoped that it would get tight and help keep the tire in one place. I couldn't get the lock off the tire, so that is a good sign. The metal is on the thinner side, so hopefully no one is really dedicated to getting it off the tire. The keys are a unique design that I haven't seen before, so hopefully that helps it from being picked. One other design issue seems to be the weather cover for the lock. It slides right off the metal and is fairly worthless.

So I just got this today, and I am pleased with it. It clamps to my wheel/tire even with the cover still on the tire. And yes, I want it that way. No, it i not the heaviest duty "boot" that you will find. But I did not expect that it would be. It is, however, a visual deterrent that anyone who sees it, knows you are proactive in protecting your trailer. They also have to ask themselves, what OTHER anti-theft measures have been taken? What else will they encounter while trying to steal this trailer?? I wanted the bright yellow with red just for the purpose of being highly visible. While it is not the heaviest, it is also not something that I believe will be extremely easy to remove without the key. It has a very odd shaped key that most thieves are not likely familiar with. And going through the effort to cut this thing off of the wheel...while standing out in the open and easily visible while making noise and sparks...that is not something a thief is gonna really want to be faced with either. Especially if it is possible that something easier may be waiting down the road. If it looks difficult to steal, it may seem too much like work to a thief.
