What they call nutria I would call pea green. It is not the tan color shown here on Amazon, or even on the Thule website. It is kind of like a yellowish olive drab. I attached a picture which does not quite do the actual yellow-green color justice. I think my camera added a bit of red. Otherwise the bag seems fine, with a large inner compartment, etc.

This pack is small and built for day trips. The materials are tough and high quality. It has a variety of pockets. There are two side water bottle mesh pockets. Also a small pocket on the lid and one on the right hand chest strap. And of course it has the main compartment with a laptop/water bladder pocket too. The black version of this pack is very sleek and looks stealthy like some of the military packs do. Overall this is a quality and versatile pack.

Not a lot of pockets so if you need to keep things seperated might want to look at something else. Im using it for college and it holds everything I need with room to spare. I have the 25L version and my 15" laptop slips in the pocket and is still comfortable against my back compared to others that feel overly rigid after putting the laptop in.

This review is for the 25L model. This backpack from Thule is not only good for hikes but everyday use and pretty much anything in between. The backpack is listed as a men’s backpack but I can see it working for females also. Based on my experience this backpack is great for men and women who are on the average/taller side. My sister who’s 5’1’’ tried the backpack on and it was too long for her to wear comfortably. Pros: My favorite feature of this backpack is the side zipper. The biggest issue I have with stuffing my top loading backpacks is having to shift or pull everything out to get the items on the bottom of the backpack. With the side zipper, I never have to do that again. Material wise, the canvas material feels very durable. I like that each side of the backpack has a deep stretchy water bottle pocket. I’m able to fit my blender bottle and a normal size bottle in the pockets just fine. The front of the back and a deep unzippered compartment that’s a great place to place quick grab items you might need. In the inner drawstring compartment there’s a pocket that doubles as a hydration pack area and a laptop sleeve. There’s an opening on the back that you can easily slip your hydration pack tube through. The compartment also does not touch the bottom of the bag so your laptop wouldn’t hit the ground. The “hood” of the bag has a zippered compartment that is great for valuables that you might need to access quickly. The backpack has compression straps and multiple areas you can attach gear to. The back of the bag sits against my back comfortably and is very breathable. Cons: The shoulder straps are not as padded as compared to my other hiking backpacks. I wish the hip strap was removable since I don’t alway need it for everyday use. Thankfully they can be tucked away when not in use. The backpack does not come with a rain cover, which for a backpack at this price point is a little disappointing. The laptop compartment doesn’t have a ton of padding to protect your laptop if you were to drop your backpack. The bag doesn’t have a ton of zippered compartments to keep things organized.

This pack weighs in at 2.04lbs. Not the lightest in its price range, but not bad. It’s pretty minimalistic in features, but has most of what you’d need for a pack its size. The one thing I noticed immediately is that there is very little padding in the shoulder straps. There are lower shoulder strap adjusters, which are nice, but I’d really like to have seen more padding in the shoulder straps. There are adjustable chest and waist straps. Where many backpacks have a wide waist strap, this one is 3/4 inch wide. I have seen, however, that a lot of packs in this size have thinner waist straps. The padding section of the waist strap, next to the pack itself, does not have zippered compartments, but for me, I normally wear cargo pants anyway, so that’s no big deal. Again, it’s all somewhat relative to the size of the pack and what its intended use is. This is not a “long haul, heavy load” pack. It has a very nice drawstring enclosure at the top of the pack with a very nice, wide opening. There is a “lid” on top to cover the opening of the pack that is a zippered compartment with plenty of easy-access room to necessities for a day hike. It is secured with a clasp and not a latch, which was a little unusual, but it seems to work fine. Honestly, the hook clasp has less chance of failure than a plastic latch. There is a decent size stuff compartment on the outside of the pack with adjusters at the top. It has two water bottle holders on the bottom sides, which was not easily seen in the photos online. Inside the pack is the divider that will hold a 15” laptop, or a hydration bladder, and it has a latch at the top to secure the bladder in place. There is an opening at the top of the pack specifically designed for the hydration tube. There is no clasp on the shoulder straps to secure the tube. There is also a nice, strong woven handle at the top of the pack. One thing pretty cool are the long side access zippers so as to access things like a rain jacket without having to open the whole pack to get to it. These zippers are not rain resistant, it doesn’t appear. The material that the pack is made of appears to be extremely durable. I can’t attest to its water resistance, but the notes indicate that it’s more resistant than most waxed canvas packs. Time will tell. The back pad is, again, minimal and marginal on ventilation. It has some extra loops and a special loop to hold hiking poles. This is a nice pack and has a lot to like, but unfortunately the overall comfort of the pack is lacking. Made in Vietnam.
