The media could not be loaded. These trains are awful. These motorized Thomas trains don't weigh enough to maintain traction on hills, they don't handle tight turns well, and they fall off the track a lot due to their larger (wider) body size. Granted, we have all Brio track components, but wooden train track sizes are relatively universal, so these problems shouldn't be as big as they are. While this is frustrating for kids, the most annoying feature for parents is the awful motor noise these make. One train is loud enough, but three (we have Thomas, James, and Percy) will drive anyone insane. And when they fall off the track and the motors keep going? ok let’s get into it. this train doesn’t have magnetic ends to connect to other brands cars. it is also designed specifically for Thomas brand tracks, so if (like me) you have a mix matched set of wood tracks and trains from Brio and others, this train will not go up hills or bridges. it also cannot make certain turns. i recognize that it’s partly on me for having the wrong expectations, but i’m still going to recommend against this train. ... show more

    • Trustworthy seller, diesel 10 came in an unopened box, works wonderfully!
My son, he's autistic & loves these toy trains as if they were people. He's really attached to them the moment he gets them! Diesel 10 has been one train thay was so hard to find without having to spend $80+! I can't see spending almost $100 on a toy train for my 3 yr. old little boy. I kept searching, and waiting, hoping I would land a sale or something. Even Amazon didn't have this train, except from 3rd party sellers which, after being ripped off so many times, I don't trust buying from 3rd party sellers any longer. Then, I saw this diesel 10 trackmaster train on here and for just under $40!! Which, still, $38 and some change is still a heck of alot of money for one freaking toy train! Still, because my son was obsessed with this particular train, when he started using the potty, well trying to use the potty anyway, he got this train as his reward. The expression on his face, and that happy squeal of joy he made was worth every penny!! The train itself came in a new, unopened box (which is hard to find on Amazon anymore, lol) once I got batteries in the train, he worked like a brand new train should work. He's still going strong to this day, (although my son literally loves these trains so he doesn't play rough with them anyway) I definitely recommend this seller and the diesel 10 trackmaster train listed!! Don't heistate, I know almost $40 sounds insane for a toy train, but take it from me, you're not going to find a better deal on a brand new, unused and unopened trackmaster diesel 10 train! Even on eBay, and let's be honest, with eBay it's also a hit or miss, just like the 3rd party sellers Amazon has let infiltrate their business, which is honestly going to bring Amazon down eventually. They sell junk, not authentic products (be warned, especially with beauty products). I'm so sick of the knockoffs and damaged crap being sold on Amazon now!! It needs to stop, Amazon needs to smarten up before nobody buys from them anymore! We have enough sites to gamble on, like eBay or wish!! Amazon is turning themselves right into the same kind of business, and i really didnt expect that! Anyway, thats here nor there with this train or seller, both are awesome! The media could not be loaded. My son loves Thomas so he begged me to buy this battery operated one. We own several Brio trains and they’re fantastic - wood construction, has forward/reverse option, can climb up the hill etc.. This Thomas can’t even go up the hill, makes a lot of noise and is very noisy!! We had to change our entire track to accommodate - such a big disappointment Don’t waste your money on this - definitely pay extra and buy the Brio trains! ... show more

My son (now 14) was a HUGE Thomas the Tank Engine fan when he was a preschooler. Years later, his younger sister discovered his track and trains and we found we needed to replace our Thomas (battery corrosion issues - our fault!). This arrived exactly as expected and ready to play with (once we added batteries). We've found that these trains are very durable (they've fallen off of tables, chairs, etc. and keep on going!), but avoid running them on floors as they can easily pick up fibers and hairs and clog up the wheels (learned that the hard way). ... show more

Purchased for my sons Thomas track. It fit perfectly and keeps the kids entertained. The only issue I have with it is that the battery is drained so quick. I felt like I’m constantly changing batteries every other day almost. Also if it goes on the floor and you have dog hair or anything that can get stuck in the wheels, it will stop moving until you get it cleaned up. It would be nice to have an easy way to doing that rather than unscrewing each time. ... show more

    • A Rare Find
I was thrilled to find this particular engine on Amazon. It happens to be my five year old's favorite. Everytime he sees me on the computer he asks to see pictures of Diesel 10. I cannot wait to see his excitement when he opens this gift on Christmas morning. I ordered a total of three of these as they are so hard to find for a reasonable price. I want him to be able to have one when he is older to remember the fun he had playing with Diesel 10 and all his friends. Coming from a background in electrical engineering I was impressed with the design efforts that went into these engines. They have a spring loaded gear system that prevents gears from being stripped if the engine is pushed while turned on or off. They pull a very descent load, I have watched my boys put them on the floor behind a big Tonka dump truck and let the engine push it across the floor. I have had to take one of the other engines apart due to hair wrapped around the axles and found that they actually designed them very well. You can disassemble the entire engine to clean out debris and such with only a small Philips head screw driver and with a quick cleaning they are back on the track in no time. I have bought other brand battery operated trains only to have them die after a few weeks because of rough play, etc. These TrackMaster engines take a beating and keep on running. ... show more
