I loved Beverly Cleary as a child and am thrilled to be able to share her works with my sons, who are 8 and 10. This made a wonderful present for my 8 year old. My 10 year old promptly sat down and read all of the books in a week. this is a great addition to any library.

"girls certainly started to be dumb when they were really young". This is a quote from one of the books. I'm not interested in censoring or banning books, except for my kids under 5 years old. It's just too hard for me to read this kind of mysogeny in several books to my 4 year.okd and explain it away. I appreciate the books otherwise. I am able to explain mysogeny to my 8 year old. That's just how the main culture treated women 50 years ago. ... show more
