It's not about hype or high-risk bets; it's about smart setups, sound risk management, and consistent discipline. On top of the technical strategies, the book also addresses the mental game of trading, which is so often overlooked. The way it breaks down emotion vs. analysis really hit home and helped me think more clearly about my own decision-making. So, I assume most of you who are reading this review are like me - meaning I am not a "professional" trader by training i.e. I did not study it in school, I never worked on a trading desk for a bank or a broker dealer or a hedge fund, or on the floor of an exchange. I didn't go to the right school and I never had any connections. Thus I have had to learn to trade through the old fashioned school of hard knocks over the past 20 years - simply by doing (making mistakes) learning and reading endless books, stuff online, etc. I equate it to anyone, again like me; who has learned to play golf as an adult. Never had a lesson, or grew up playing - so I have just swung the club a million times and read endless books or watched videos. None of which works - you just have to figure it out on your own through endless mistakes. Well, where I am going with this is once in a blue moon - once maybe in your lifetime if your lucky- does somebody actually come around and say, I will help you. I will tell you what you need to know, because the 10 million other things you have been trying are just plain wrong. Well folks - The TAO of Trading by Simon Ree is Just that book! Of course that begs the question why would anyone share this knowledge? Well, I honestly don't know; but Simon Ree has indeed done that. So why not just accept that he has done something amazing to help others and BUY it and READ IT! I cannot say anything else . I am sure you have all read the other endless books on finance/investing/trading as I have - some interview styles with legends like the Market wizard series - or some fun fiction/non fiction like Liars Poker or Reminiscenses, or the hideous textbooks with awful titles like How to trade fixed income, or Options Theory etc etc with endless pages of calculus and theory - which are all completely and utterly useless for practical trading. I threw them all in the trash with my mechanical engineering textbooks from college (which are even more useless). Do you really think those who trade on Wall Street for a living (and majored in Liberal Arts from some preppy school) have any idea at all how to do math beyond a 5th grade level? The answer is they do not - they were taught how to trade on the job, period. Or they trade on inside information - which we have learned over the years is much more common than we thought. How does one just simply make billions of dollars? well, they are in jail now, or at least they should be. For some reason, Wall Street in all its forms (and I have plenty of friends who work there) has a motto like Fight Club. Rule #1, never ever talk about what you actually do on Wall Street. Because why would they ever want to share how to make money? That's money out of their pockets. Yes, some computer math geniuses from MIT figure it out on their own and open hedge funds (one in a billion types) - but I'm no genius and I'm betting you are not either. But Simon Ree has decided to break the Omerta of Wall Street and just come out and tell you what you NEED to KNOW! I pray for his sake that the Wall Street gods don't strike him down for sharing this with us civilians. So do yourself a favor and just by The Tao of Trading and read it over and over again. And then, write a review on here and thank Simon Ree personally for his help - that is the very least you can do for him! Endy Stordy!

I really liked his focus on keeping things simple but not dumbed down. It was very readable and I finished it in small bites when I had a few moments to read it.

So I’ve been a trader/investor off and on for 25 or so years. I’ve read lots of books going back to Granville and Hurst. Most books don’t show you how to do the essentials, which is identify a trend, the setup, and the trigger. Ree does a good job of that. I’m well versed on indicators so this was of good benefit to me. It’s fairly simple. I like simple. I also like how he equates trading to sex. The psychology of it and the fact that he puts it towards the front of the book. If you don’t have that down you’re going to lose no matter your system. Now the bad. He talks way too much about options. He’s not a day trader, so he explains holding positions for days or more. But at the same time early on he doesn’t want you to have too much stress. The two just don’t mix. I’ve lost a lot of $$$ trading options. I gave that up. You can easily use his “system” to trade ETFs or stocks imho. That’s my plan. He also gives you some bonuses on his web site. A lot of that costs money though. Some have said he pushes his courses on you in the book. I didn’t find that to be the case. So overall this is one of the best trading books I have seen. The one star off is because I don’t think for 99% of traders that options are the way to go.

I struggled as a beginner with all the typical mistakes. One such mistake was flip flopping between strategies, timeframes and indicators constantly thinking I'd magically figure out why my profits were so inconsistent. Then I read Simon's book and it really struck a chord. I read it multiple times, took notes and decided I was going to follow it religiously. He gives a lot of fundamental knowledge including risk management and trading psychology, and then on top of that gives you a very effective, yet simple, trend trading strategy. After trading this system for a couple months and seeing a major impact on my trading I ended up joining his Options Academy which expands on the book and adds 2 additional core strategies for volatility expansion and countertrend trades. If you are a new trader and/or have been trying to build a core foundation from an experienced trader, without any complex voodoo or magic 8-ball wizardry, this is 100% the best place to start.

I started looking into trading options as a way to provide additional income. I wanted to learn a skill that would benefit me, now and through retirement. Despite being an intelligent, college educated woman, I always viewed trading as out of my league. Simon's book provided me with the tools and confidence to give options trading a try. I started earning money right away. As my success continued, I was able to purchase Simon Ree's Options Academy. Simon's lessons are invaluable in creating a solid foundation to navigate market ups and downs, while also providing strategies for continued growth. I highly recommend both his book and Options Academy! I have read, re-read, and continue to use for reference.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Engaging and easy to follow. Simon does a fantastic job of distilling what he knows in a straightforward manner. I have read it twice now and will be reading it again which is the best way to learn for something I’m interested in. I’m sure I’ll keep reading it over and over again to help me in my trading journey.
