The Side of The Road: A journey of Sobriety, Faith & Healing

Derek Palosaari’s life has been marked by contradictions from the start. He grew up in a home where fear and love coexisted, where addiction cast long shadows but family bonds remained unbroken. Those early years planted both wounds and gifts that shaped his path — a journey defined by rebellion, despair, and ultimately redemption. What started as a search for escape through drugs and alcohol quickly led to years of self-destruction, failed recovery attempts, and the deep shame of relapse. Yet, in the depths of his brokenness, Derek experienced a moment of divine grace that changed everything. From that point on, his story became one of surrender, rebuilding, and learning to walk in truth. Through setbacks, personal losses, financial hardship, and even public accusations, Derek found that God’s grace is not only redemptive but also sustaining. His story shows that transformation isn't achieved through dramatic gestures but through daily choices — one step, one prayer, one act of honesty at a time. ‘The Side of the Road’ is a powerful testament of resilience, faith, and calling. It reminds readers that no matter how deep the pain, no matter how impossible the circumstances, God’s grace is enough. Derek’s journey offers hope to anyone longing for freedom, restoration, and the certainty that their story, too, can serve a greater purpose. Read more
