  • Real book not a joke
Format: Paperback
Bought this as a gift for a friend who claims when she retires she will get a job at Walmart. You know what she took the book seriously and read it. The book is legit and not written as a joke it is written as a manual for employees.

  • Read It and GREET!
Format: Kindle
I got this "e-book" to help with my greeting job at the Wal-Mart over on Hutz Road. Figured it couldn't hurt and might even help me avoid the "incidents" that keep on hounding me. Well, I'm glad to say I made it through the book on my Kandle and it really works! I haven't had a single write-up for fightin' customers since I learned all the Secrets. For example, this book taught me: when a real heavy fella comes in the door, don't yell "WIDE LOAD" - just smile and say hello. This valuable trick coulda saved me some real trouble and a few crushed ribs. Some of the Secrets unfortunately hurt my "dating game" though. Not being able to pinch the pretty girls' fannies and ask for numbers has put a serious dent in my "personal" life. Makes me wonder if I should even stay on the job. (Not to worry, ladies: you can still always find me during $1 Tequila Tuesdays at the McFinnerty's over on 52nd Street.) I gotta recommend this book to everybody out there who is or wants to be a Greeter. Every "Secret" in the book is really important. Except for Secret #5 - I don't get what a 44-day vow of starvation and self-mutilation really has to do with success as a Wal-Mart Greeter. I give the book "5 STARS" and hope everybody reads it. I also hope they make a "Seven Secrets Part 2: Seven More Secrets". In that case, I have some extra "secrets" for greeters to know about: 1. Whoever smelt it, dealt it. 2. When your good-for-nothing ex shows up to throw chicken gizzards at you in the doorway again, start collecting those gizzards for a healthy stew later on. 3. When the child support agency walks in with more papers, say "No Speak English" and pretend you are holding a mop. 4. If your hangover is really killing you, remember you are in a place with Tylenol and more beer to get ya through. 5. Speaking of hangovers, stick to only TWO hip flasks per shift. 6. When there's a puddle on the floor, and it is urine, and that urine is yours - don't be ashamed. Use it as a negotiation tactic to get a bathroom break every 6 hours. 7. When they say "Don't get caught with your pants down", they really mean it! Happy Readin' and Greetin'! ... show more

  • A real eye-opener.
Format: Paperback
I had tried for a job as a greater several times, but was always rejected. Reading this fantastic book, I now know why. Turns out I had been doing everything wrong. You DON'T run up behind people, put your hands over their eyes and scream "Guess who?!!". And don't roast the customers no matter how witty your barbs. Wearing a 'No Fat Chicks' shirt ironically or not, is frowned upon. There are four more great tips, but I don't want to spoil your read. Well, I am off to get my job as a WalMart greeter. I hear they have a food stamp program for full-time workers. Sounds like a great place to work. ... show more

  • Ideal advice
Format: Kindle
The Seven Secrets of Great Walmart People Greeters is simply one of those books that combines the basics of self help, with how those ideas and ideals can be grounded in reality. As we all know, there is really no greater reality than Walmart, for it truly is where the elite and great unwashed meet, especially in those weee hours of the morning at the 24 hour Wal Marts. Mr. Corey does an excellent job of breaking down the requirements of the position, its true nature (also known as the real reason why the position exists), and why Wal Mart executives have gone to such great lengths to place a greeter in every store, and no it is not part of a global conspiracy. Anyone desiring to not only find a way to play a part in the greatest business movement in the United Sates, no, the world, as well as to how people can accelerate their own happiness by bringing the seven secrets into their lives, this is the book for them. Required reading, if only to find out how a greeter should deal with those special "people of Wal Mart." ... show more
