  • Good for reluctant reader

  • Fun book for a more advanced level 2 reader
The important thing to know about this book is that it is more approprate for the more advanced level 2 reader rather than one just transitioning to level 2. The text is in a smaller font than other level 2 books and the sentences are in longer paragraphs. To add to that, the Pokemon names can be tough for the early level 2 reader to figure out. But for the more advanced level 2 reader and Pokemon fan it's a fun book to read. ... show more

  • He as well as my 7 year old son both love the story
Purchased this as a stocking stuffer for my 4 year old Pokemon obsessed son. He as well as my 7 year old son both love the story. I wasn't sure who would read this book more when I purchased it as a level 2 in one brand isn't a level 2 in another brand of reader books. My 4 year old is a bit advanced on his reading level and this was a tiny struggle for him at times. My 7 year old who is pretty on level with reading enjoyed reading it as well. We all loved the story itself. Not too long for them to read on their own and a good length for a bedtime book (we do several at bedtime so we like shorter stories). Very happy with this book and will definitely be purchasing more of them! I love that they have Pokemon reader books to help encourage my 2 to keep reading new things! Overall I am very happy with this! ... show more

  • Good Pokemon book for young readers- Would recommend
My son just turned 7 today and we read this book last night before bed. He loved it. He could probably read the story himself except the names of the characters can be tough (but that is how every pokemon story is). The story-line is cute. The girl finds a new pokemon. They dont know how to take care of it because it is not in the pokedex but they are kind and nice to it. Others try to steal it. Once it gets away from the "bad guys" it realizes it wants to stay with the girl because it knows the girl will look out for it. My son is in first grade. Perhaps readers a few years older than him might find the book too easy or not action filled enough for their liking but this is a book for younger readers so I think it is perfect for my sons age/grade. ... show more

  • Good nighttime read
I was hoping the text would be the size of a level 1 reader and I still don't really know what a Squishy is, but this book was a hit with my 4 year old Pokemon fan, so no major complaints. 5 stars based on my son's reaction, not my critique. The story is of good length for a bedtime story (one of a few, anyway). Holds your interest and the story itself is engaging. Makes sense if you are a Pokémon fan. If you have no idea what Pokémon is or who the characters are you may be a little confused with some of the characters, but they aren't introduced as it is assumed you will enter reading this book with some background knowledge. ... show more
