Hot lava pillows MOVE OVER! I can't begin to tell you how awesome this game is. So it's kind of funny right? Hot lava is a big deal in my house so imagine my surprise that I got a chance to tell the world how much you will love this game if you are a Hot Lava family. I am so happy to report that the stones do not slip on my hard wood and they do not concave. They are made of a durable heavy weight plastic. Important to know that they are not very big which was also a concern for me, but fear not for little feet up to 8 foot shoe sizes they are perfectly fine. Here is the scoop, all of us play Hot Lava as a family so it is crazy super important to me that no one hurts themselves and that the game play can be used with adults. That being said, I will tell you that even though it holds all of our weights and we have had a ton of fun following the challenge cards, it really is a kid sized game. Just wanted you to know that as an adult I mean you really need good dexterity and balance since we find that most of us big kids end up on one foot lmao 😂. I love the challenge cards and am looking forward to expansion packs. Can't wait to do more. As a matter of fact, based on this review alone and our play time, my friends ran out and bought one so we added some additional rules (like we always do) and added stones to our challenge patterns. I recommend buying 2. It's crazy fun. That being said what I am really looking forward to is adult back yard fun this summer with these guys, oh here comes trouble with the jungle juice lol 😂. In terms of value - It's the average price of a high quality board game with mega fund worth buying so ya, it's totally competitive here on Amazon as it is anywhere. For us in our house, it's a great complement to our family shenanigans and mega board game collection. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! I am so darn happy I got a chance to review it because I really wanted to buy it but stopped because I was afraid that it wouldn't support us or be of good enough quality for the price and I am absolutely a mega fan. How many of us have kids who use our sofas and coffee tables to play this game? Now, we can move the game AWAY from the furniture. The Floor is Lava is a game from Goliath. Inside the box are 10 different stepping stones in 5 different colors, a deck of cards, 2 plastic rings to hold them, and a color spinner. The stones themselves are surprisingly heavy duty. They feel like some sort of plastic or rubber. They don't slip, skid, or collapse when kids jump on them. Or when adults jump on them. In the attached pic you can see we're playing the game outside. They nest together and easily fit back into the box again. The challenge cards are small and have a hole in the corner where they can be attached to the included plastic rings. The challenges are simple but still fun. One example being "how many wheels does a bicycle have" and then you perform an action. There's a laminated square including all five colors and a plastic spinner. The spinner spins easily without getting hung up on anything and stopping. The instructions are why this is a 4 star product instead of 5 stars for me. Some of the rules seemed...vague? Like, what happens to the other kids who don't land on the right color? Who gets to answer the challenge card? That said, there's potential for huge amounts of open ended play. We had more fun making up our own rules and playing that way. In spite of the funky rules, this game is very entertaining and a great value for the money. My kids had an absolute blast with it. I highly recommend it if you have kids under 12. ... show more
