Bought this updated Recon to replace a 20+ year old Recon I had since college and used 5 days a week ever since. Really nothing wrong with the old one just time to move on. New bag has more zipper compartments; though I’m not keen on the laptop compartment being behind the top handle, makes it impossible to hang it, unzip it and take out the laptop. You have to hold it, take it out and then hang it up… i guess i have to adapt my 20yr routine, lol, 1st world problems… otherwise fits the same and the back padding feels a lot better than old version. ... show more

    • Pockets are so small and awkward
I purchased the older model of this backpack and 2016. I liked it so much I decided to buy the new version. The backpack itself seems high quality and durable. The pockets are significantly smaller and you can hardly put anything in them. When you do put things in them, it makes the top portion of the backpack stick out and the bottom part suck in.
