Description

"Chris Scullion's latest console encyclopedia is possibly his best yet." ― Retro Gamer The fourth book in Chris Scullion’s critically acclaimed series of video game encyclopedias, The N64 Encyclopedia is dedicated to the Nintendo 64, one of the most well-loved games consoles ever released. Although the Nintendo 64 didn’t sell as well as some of Nintendo’s other systems, and although it struggled in the shadow of the bold newcomer that was the Sony PlayStation, everyone who owned an N64 was in love with it and the four-player multiplayer it provided as standard. Despite its relatively small library, the Nintendo 64 had a healthy number of groundbreaking titles that would revolutionize the way we played video games. The likes of Super Mario 64, GoldenEye 007, Mario Kart 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remain iconic in the eyes of video game fans 25 years down the line. This book naturally contains those games, but it also contains every other game released for the system, no matter how obscure. It also covers every game released in Japan, including those for the ill-fated Nintendo 64DD add-on which never left the country. With over 400 games covered, screenshots for every title and a light-hearted writing style designed to make reading it a fun experience, the N64 Encyclopedia is the definitive guide to a truly revolutionary gaming system. • Educational and information, great archive and hard backed. 10/10
Like others in the series this book is excellently made and catalogues the extensive history of this console and the games available extensively. Highly recommend for even people with passive interests in the hobby as it's entertaining and packed with graphics and recommendations that may help with a gamer's next game purchase. Beautiful, hefty, made to last just like the knowledge within. ... show more

  • Good read... But
It's a fantastic book. I just wish that each game covered had a review score tied to each entry. Sure, they're are quotes from certain publications referenced in the book but, I would have liked to read a more personal take on each entry. Nice read though. I do enjoy it. 8/10

  • Font\text too tiny to read on Kindle 8 Fire HD
The subject line is not hyperbole. This kindle book has the tiniest font I've ever "seen". You cannot zoom in like with good kindle books\magazines with small fonts. You can't change the Font size via kindle options. *** Don't buy any kindle versions of Chris Scullion's encyclopedia books *** (The other book I bought (Sega Genesis) has the same problem.) Maybe I can hook the kindle up to my computer and read it? I don't care to try at this point. ... show more
