Wonderful album
Laura Sullivan's albums are always the ones that I reach for when I am looking for music to relax to or to play in the background when I am working. When I wanted to surprise my girlfriend after she had a stressful week by running her a bath with candles lit and music playing, this is the album that I reached for and it was perfect. I actually also have been listening to the album while training for an upcoming marathon because it helps my mind to relax as I run and therefore to also relax my muscles as I go mile after mile. Whereas the album, Feast of Joy & Love had songs such as Memories of the Ice Cream Truck and Greensleeves which stood out from the other songs on the album because they were either recognizable or different in nature, the collection of songs included on The Modern Romantic: New Relaxing Classical Piano Music blend together so that the album seems more seamless. One song flows into the next which adds to the calmness listening to the album brings. While the piano played by Laura stands out in each song, the piano is accompanied by the cello and the violin on two of the songs and by voices in other tracks. I highly recommend The Modern Romantic: New Relaxing Classical Piano Music. I received a prerelease CD in exchange for an unbiased review. I went on to purchase additional copies of the album for friends when the album was released. ... show more

Lovely piano music that is great for relaxing
I love the beautiful simplicity of this album and the subtle instrumentation of cello and violin is perfect. Unlike some "relaxation" CD's that have harsh jumps in style and dynamics from one track to the next, this CD has got a great flow to it. I'm a board certified music therapist and have come across a lot of "relaxation" music in the past. Most of it is disjointed or just too strange to be relaxing. This CD by Laura Sullivan will certainly be added to my collection of high quality relaxation CD's that I use with my clients. I look forward to adding more of Laura Sullivan's CD's to my collection. As a recording musician, I can also attest to the excellent sound quality of this CD. The way acoustic instruments are recorded, mixed and mastered is essential to a quality release. Many times this is lacking from albums, but it is so important to get it right! Laura and her team did a great job with this. ... show more

OK.
Loved the cello melodies. So soothing. Piano seem to have repetitive portions through out. Really wish there had a sample of the music.

Takes me to another place
This music does not have a specific adjective that I can use to describe it. The best words are simply, "It moves my soul!" Listening to it takes you to another place, a different place, a better place. There is plenty of relaxing music available but not much that both relaxes you and takes you to a better place. This does both. Very highly recommended!!! ... show more

Relaxing, melodious and enjoyable listening
I have been listening to Laura Sullivan on I Heart Radio, and finally decided to buy the album and check at the rest of the music. Relaxing and melodious. I sometime listen to it to fall asleep, or just relax when I'm waiting in an office.
