  • Not quite as fun
Platform: PlayStation 3 Edition: Standard
This game was not quite as fun as other LEGO games. First of all, its much shorter than like the Lord of the Rings or Star Wars which each cover 3 movies whereas this game covers only 1 movie. The world you are in is much smaller than like Marvel games or Lord of the Rings. Plus you don't have as many puzzles or challenges in the world to solve which makes games last longer. Some of the gold bricks int he levels were very difficult to figure out how to get, more so than the other LEGO games we have played so far To replay levels it appears that you have to go to find each level's pad in the world which can be difficult to locate across all the worlds plus there is no map. Multiple levels have active moving scenes where you are just falling or sliding which are not very fun. When you replay those portions, you cannot be another character so the second player gets stuck with Emmet rolling in a circle while the other player gets to do all the jumping feats by themselves so not fun. We got all the red bricks really quickly because they were in the worlds not the levels and once you have those turned on, you have enough money to buy all the characters pretty quickly - so that went really fast compared to other such games. You don;t even have to replay levels in free play unless you want to get all the golden bricks to build the vehicles in the bonus room. Finishing all the levels went fast. Getting the red bricks went fast. Getting the golden bricks is taking longer, but not in an enjoyable way. So the game was mostly fun to play, with a fun glitches where we got stuck and had to restart. Overall the game is a 3/5. ... show more

  • The Lego Movie Game, or How I Started Gaming Again For The First Time Since The 80's
Platform: PlayStation 3 Edition: Standard
I have this four year old son who is obsessed with The Lego Movie. He's watched it dozens of times, had a Lego themed birthday, begged Santa for a Construct-o-mech... the whole thing. Anyway, since the weather stinks this time if year, I decided to buy the game to see if that could keep us occupied until spring. And it's fun! I originally thought my husband would help, but my son wanted to play while he was at work, so I had to learn, and by that I mean I didn't even know how to operate a PS3 controller when we started. The great thing about the game is it rewards you for running around being chaotic and destructive, which my son does naturally. I had to help him a lot, but not as much as I expected. I consulted online walkthroughs and such to figure things out when I got stuck. My boy loved the fighting parts and I loved flying around collecting studs in free play mode. We finished the story mode in a week and a half, but there's still a ton to do (find collectibles, explore the bonus room, mini missions, buy characters, make custom characters, etc). I honestly enjoyed the heck out of it, and I haven't played anything since the era of Joust. If your child is younger and not used to video games, expect to help a lot. But if you have the time and willingness and your child is in love with the movie, I think it's worth it. ... show more

  • Good game but challenging
Platform: PlayStation 3 Edition: Standard
This is a good game for family fun for all ages; but when it comes to little kids with ADHD or children with a lower IQ it is a little challenging because there is some levels that you have no idea what to do or where to go. Without asking Google for assistance or looking it up on YouTube how to beat certain level. Once you figure it out is a just simplest thing you have do but children will get frustrated. When the game completed they are extremely happy. That's all it matter. ... show more

  • Glitches need to be fixed, otherwise a great game.
Platform: PlayStation 3 Edition: Standard
I am a fan of most of the lego games. I really like this game and enjoy playing it with my young kids (not as dark or scary for small children as some of the other lego games). I haven't completed the game but so far game play is enjoyable. The major problem with this game is there are several glitches. Multiple times now my character has gotten stuck by objects and there is no way to get out besides quitting the game and starting over (so I loose all my progress for that level and have to restart it). "Instruction Builds" also had the same problem several times where it would not let me select the correct lego piece (I usually got this to finally work after clicking every other incorrect piece and then keep trying to get it to select the piece I actually needed to choose). These glitches are very frustrating for an otherwise great game. ... show more

  • GREAT FUN GAME KIDS ENJOY BUT NEEDS A PATCH!!
Platform: PlayStation 3 Edition: Standard
I bought this for my son for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He is 6 years old and is able to easily figure out majority of the game play. He has to ask questions sometimes which is no big deal and is expected. The reason I give this 4 stars, is because the game allows you to get stuck or make moves that will make it impossible to finish a level. The only way around it, is to replay the entire level over. I think that is pretty bad, and is very frustrating to the kids this game is targeted to. I hope they make a patch to fix this issue. My son has already beat the game in two weeks time and wants more in the LEGO series now. ... show more

The kids love it!

  • Perfect game for kids!
Platform: PlayStation 3 Edition: Standard
This was the only thing my 7 year old specifically asked for his birthday. He LOVES this game! It's funny and easy to maneuver for children, yet still challenging. There are several levels where my son doesn't exactly get what he's supposed to be doing so he needs some guidance. The game follows along with the storyline and is just as funny and whimsical as the movie. As the levels progress you get to be a variety of characters from the movie and each character has a specific skill that the others lack. I was impressed with the two player capability. In 2P mode each person is helping the other complete the level and when they come within range of each other the split-screen goes away. I like the idea of being partners in a 2P mode instead of "against" each other. I would buy this game again, it's definitely the best one we have in our collection so far. ... show more
