This puzzle set is high quality. The cardboard material is dense and pretty durable. Some corners eventually do peel off but that is because my child tries to break apart the pieces. Initially my 2 yo was overwhelmed by the numerous pieces. So I slowly introduced a few animals at a time for her to piece together. My toddler did a lot of wooden puzzles so I was looking to get a little advanced from there and we did 2 piece puzzles for a while so this being three pieces it was the perfect next level for him. I love the real pictures so he can make sense of the picture he was looking for. If it was a drawn one then the toddler doesn't know what pieces he should be looking for since he doesn't know what the full picture looks like,if you know what I mean. After a decent amount of use some of the corners where the puzzle pieces meet are starting to show where and some are peeling. With the amount of cards in there this is not been a real issue. I bought this for my grandchildren and is now a favorite gift to give other littles. At age one the pieces can be put together by the adult or older child and used to teach animal names and sounds. By age 2, with adult help a child can identify heads and tails and begin placing the pieces in proper order. By age 3 a child can play with this on their own. With toddlers I separate 3-4 animals into ziploc bags and only use one bag at a time so they aren’t overwhelmed. A great “grows with them” activity! ... show more

My 22 month old took to it right away. Realistic photos, durability, thick material-everything is great . So many ways to play this. Guess the animal by one-two pieces, mix up 2-3 animals and try to separate them and make full animal, name animals and sounds, take one animal without head/ tail and give your toddler 4-5 heads/ tails, let him guess which is right and complete the puzzle etc . ... show more
