  • Gaylor down a rabbit hole
I purchased this book after coming across a slew of theories claiming that the author is secretly Taylor Swift. I read so many arguments in both agreement and disagreement with this theory that I just bought it to read for myself. Honestly, i wasn’t swayed definitively in either direction. Either way, it is a solid little book of queer art and that in and of itself is a special thing. ... show more

  • Resonant for young queers
I enjoyed this collection of poetry. It’s very relatable for young wlw or anyone queer struggling with the world and their sexuality. Hope the author continues to write and publish more!

  • For the love of all things sapphic, please read them all.
Absolutely beautiful poetry, so raw and moving. I read all four of June Bates' poetry books in one sitting, I devoured them and couldn't put them down. I think I'll be re-reading them over and over forevermore.

  • Left me in tears
I enjoyed She is the Poem and was excited to read this. As with the first, it was one of the most relatable queer experiences I've ever read. It felt like piecing together snippets of paper to make a story. It explores the shame and anger before coming out, the freedom and relief after, and the inevitable heartache. The queer experience growing up hiding and coming off naive to our peers, falling behind socially and romantically, and to finally find the person we've hidden all our lives we sometimes are forced to say goodbye to loved ones. Free from the oppression costing familiarity. As adults we are stumbling to learn life, love, and heartbreak that our peers learned in safety of high school and comforting parents. Our hearts break harder, our losses more devastating. She is the Poem and The Lavender Haze will stay by my bedside for quite some time. It is so comforting knowing we aren't alone. It's beautifully written and raw. ... show more

  • Great Poems!!
I actually really enjoyed this poetry book and as this being the first book i’ve read by this author i was excited for a new type of writing style compared to what i’ve read before and i was very pleasantly surprised. The one thing that threw me off however was that the overarching storyline was a bit all over the place and i think of a couple poems switched pages it would’ve been more coherent to follow, especially towards the end. But overall its a really good book and i would definitely recommend it to anyone who like poetry. Also love the fact that its self published, it makes me all the more excited to read their other works. ... show more
