Description

Somewhere between unlikely and impossible is where magic happens. This is where Rocket Lab was born. From a young age Sir Peter Beck had his mind set on one thing: space. And as he tinkered with motorbikes in his parents’ garage as a teenager, he was quietly forming a plan―a plan that would eventuate into the establishment of one of the most dynamic and influential aerospace manufacturers the world has ever seen. The Launch of Rocket Lab traces Rocket Lab’s extraordinary journey from fledgling start-up to international powerhouse competing against two of the world’s richest men in the global space race.Remarkable behind-the-scenes photographs and original interviews with Beck, his team, investors, and industry experts provide a thrilling insider account of each step in Rocket Lab’s path to success. From the early days raising venture capital to the successful launch of the first Electron small orbital launch vehicle―which transformed the way we see and access space―to the company’s expansion across the US, going public on the stock exchange, and its countless partnerships with major organizations including the DARPA, the Space Test Program, United States Air Force Space Command, and NASA. Now the fastest company to launch 50 rockets into space, with a market cap of US$13.63 billion, a mission to Mars in production, and plans to reach Venus in the foreseeable future, Rocket Lab has long outgrown its humble beginnings and far surpassed international expectations. A story of of innovation, dedication, teamwork, and brilliance, The Launch of Rocket Lab documents the company’s past as it looks to a future of unlimited possibility. Read more

  • A book on technology that combines historical achievement and unsurpassed publishing quality
Format: Hardcover
I can't easily describe how happy I am with this book, I'm a space program fan and an even bigger fan of rockets and missiles, I buy most every book that I can about these subjects and have all of the best, this book is fantastic and does what almost every other one doesn't, I shows wonderful full page photos of technology, whether rocket engines, satellites, work stations, with equipment being worked on, it's just fabulous, and on top of all of that the print quality of the book is outstanding, the paper is special coated pages that bring out all of the detail in marvelous intricate clarity, this is a book with the highest quality publishing I've seen except for art books which it equals. They aren't just telling a story of a wonderful company, but they have mixed art and meaningful prose to commemorate this company's fine accomplishments. Sir Peter Beck is very proud of his company's achievements, and it shows. Again Wow, wish I had a signed copy. and would love to tour the facilities, Peter Griffins text is faultless also, wonderful publishing/historical achievement. One last comment because this book uses the finest paper it makes the book quite heavy, to be expected, and the spine is sewn, top, top quality, it will stay together a long time. • interesting and inspiring. much love
Format: Kindle
Rocket lab is as influential as perhaps anyone in space other than spacex, well in fact, other than spacex really only a few names are even relevant.. blue origin, china, and.. rocketlab, and believe it or not, rocketlab is technically ahead of, or potentially ahead of, china and bezos despite being virtually out of the publics scope and scale of commentary. I am rooting for peter and rocket lab!!! ... show more

  • Great book, let down by shipping Great book, let down by shipping
Format: Hardcover
Very happy with the contents of the book itself - lots of full page photos and background info. The let down is once again by the shipping and inadequate packing. This has been yet another Amazon package that has arrived with minor damage from either no packing or not enough around the items, or from the outer box not protecting it. In this case it’s been hit in the corner, denting in the cover and dog earring the pages. ... show more

  • A timeline of innovation and just keep pedaling and you will get there. A timeline of innovation and just keep pedaling and you will get there.
Format: Hardcover
I have this one on slow read, a few pages a night, I don't want the adventure to end. The text is full of nuggets and heavy in understanding and detail. Hope there is a sequel in a few years as RKLB expands into this new industry and era. From Peter Beck and his early days, his Kiwi way of doing, seeking venture capital, there is a human touch to the story. Lovely book, had to add a Kiwi icon to the cover..... ... show more
