  • Helps tone, but won't target fat
7/20/2021 What this belt does do is encourage contractions of the abs and in ways I personally cannot do with crunches alone. I value this because for me this is the most neglected muscle group of a typical day. Think of all the movements you might do even as a physical worker. The abs hardly ever get worked, really. At my gym, they have a couple machines that really target the abs and obliques, but I don't work them consistently enough to build tone. The belt provides strong, programmed stimulation for sessions long enough to be considered a workout. If you feel fatigued at the end, you did work something. Of all the as seen on tv crap out there, this device is actually doing something. If the connector fails, I will change my review, but on first impression, this really is working. One annoyance: The on/ off symbol on the charger is not a capacitive button but a logo. I pressed it so many times thinking it was a switch. 🤦🏼♂️ Good luck! 7/22/2021 Update: It took a couple cycles to fully charge the battery, but it is full now. Serial number is "Z", suggesting manufactured in 2020, so not old. But it is NiMH, meaning much better than NiCad but not as forgiving as lithium, so this behavior might be expected. Don't leave it on the charger 24/7 hoping to get a full charge. Use it 'til almost dead, then charge again and it should charge more fully. I've found the device as more of a great coach than a magic pill. It flexes my abs sideways, which is an activation my brain can't quite do. I've also noticed two phenomena: If I go completely limp, the surprise flex will upset the muscle more strongly than fighting it. Also, if I use my brain to help activate the muscle in the exact same manner as the device, I find that the two signals add for increased intensity without dialing it up. In fact, I find dialing it past 110 to be less constructive than the two aforementioned methods. In cooperating with the program (rather than passively tolerating it), I find myself far more engaged and entertained. I'd normally do about 5 minutes of intense crunches on a machine and get bored and move on. With the Flex Belt, I'm encouraged into a productive session because I'm literally strapped in. Pulling it off without a good workout would contribute to premature pad wear and replacement. Also, getting comfortable and dialing it up takes so much time, you might as well get on with a good workout. I'm coming from a decent place, fitness-wise, with about 20% bodyfat. I've been using this thing about a hour per day, really pushing myself (being careful not to tear a muscle), and feeling decently sore. I know that feeling means something good is happening, but to wait a few more days 'til the soreness goes away prior to doing more abs. So far so good! 7/26/2021 I've been using this pretty consistently for several days, now. I definitely felt a plateau after the first session. The first use was after about a month of not bothering with abs, so that explains why I felt so worked out and sore on the first use. Subsequent sessions were underwhelming by comparison. What I use this for now is sort of an intra-workout massage. By incorporating some massaging twitch, I sm able to overcome the boredom and fatigue of doing tons of crunches. I stay engaged longer, psychologically. Thus, I am finally starting to see results, but it's mostly coming from traditional crunches. ... show more

  • I have no excuses for not taking 5 minutes to throw it on!
This belt is not inexpensive (Everything in the box is titled SLENDERTONE. Which also happens to be about $100 less if you buy that belt instead...Not sure if I didn't research enough, but from what i can see, a cheaper belt might not get all the glam and offer the same thing in the end), and it's true that it will not replace normal dieting and exercise. But it DOES stimulate your muscles while your moving around doing other things. I'm a single mommy, so my time is strictly 7-8 am mommy duties (maid, chef, nurse, best friend, disciplinarian, teacher, and chauffeur), 8-5 pm Administrative HR in front of a computer, then 5 to 8-9 pm is back to mommy duties (see pervious list). This belt adds some exercise to my lack of "me" time. Normally there is a weekend work out here and there but it's not enough to really make much of a difference. Dieting is hard and can be expensive to stay strict to, so adding something that I can feel the burn with while folding laundry is really awesome. It is not the most comforatble thing to get used to but I'm a scardy cat and have gotten it up to level 40 intensity in my first 2 trys of the belt. Cons: *The belt is very similar as a belt that is $100 cheaper, and has the same name on all the products inside the box. Wish I would have bought the other belt. *The middle "ab pad" that goes on your tummy doesn't let off any charges until you get the belt up in the 20 intensity levels. I thought mine was broken for the first try and was very upset, but choose to try it again before I sent it back. The hip pads worked great from level 1 and seem to be more intense through the entire experience. *The gels pads are a tacky gooey subtance, the residue and small chunks of the pad tend to stay behind when your done with this device, even with delicate care. *If you are large the pads might not fit where you need them to via the booklet (both hips/lovehandles, and tummy). I am 150lbs, 5'5", and wear a size 9-10 pant. My weight is well spread over me just not toned (which is my mission). The belt right now is at the max pad spacing that is offered, and it just bearly covers the electric nodes that the pads transmit to my body, while fitting in the right places. If you have a larger belly, the pads may only cover your stomach regardless of how stretchy the belt is. *This belt is not inexpensive (Everything in the box is titled SLENDERTONE. Which also happens to be about $100 less if you buy that belt instead...Not sure if I didn't research enough, but from what i can see, a cheaper belt might not get all the glam and offer the same thing in the end), and it's true that it will not replace normal dieting and exercise. *The pads are expensive. Pros: *It DOES stimulate your muscles while your moving around doing other things. Not having enough "me time" to hold a steady gym trip or exersize video, this belt makes me feel like I'm doing right by my body while I work. *The belt can be used by larger ppl as it has an extension piece (I don't need it but I'm sure this is a bonus to some). *This belt is well made and stays where you put it. * There is no noise invloved and no shocking effect to other people or items while using it. This is a plus so I can move and interact with my daughter while exercising. Or watch a movie and not disturb anyone else. *The remote has a timer. So pick your level and let it go for the program you choose. It will beep when it is finished to let you know you have reached the end of the session. The programs are different time intervals and intensitys to mix your workout up a bit for your muscles. *The remote that is used for this belt can be used with the other products (I think there are arm belts, and butt/thigh belts as well), not having to by all the hardware again might cut the price a bit. I hope I was helpful to anyone looking into this product. I don't think I'll be returning the belt. And since I can use it everyday without haulting life, I have no excuses for not taking 5 minutes to throw it on for 20-40 mins a day. You can really start to feel the burn and muscle exhaustion after you get in the 30's, and it goes up to 150. I'm sure I won't get to that level but it's definately an added part of my toning process now! I'll wait and see what this belt can do for my tummy, and I might get the butt/thigh belt next if in a few months I notice a difference. ... show more
