Description

Moving? You're in good company: 14% of Americans move each year. Despite all this relocation taking place around us it can still feel like a lonely process fraught with anxiety. But it doesn't have to be this way. The Essential Moving Guide is exactly what the title suggests. It features advice on the practical and the personal elements of a successful move - before, during, and after the move itself. Moving logistics are an important yet small part of a successful move. Ultimately, it is your attitude and actions which will determine the outcome of your move and how quickly you feel at home in your new location. Speaking from her experiences of moving on numerous occasions as a child and as an adult through corporate relocations, Sara Boehm offers important advice she and others have found valuable to help you make the most of your new adventure. With preparation, thoughtfulness, and planning you can manage your move in a successful and even beneficial way. This guide serves as a resource for adults in the process of relocating. It is part of a broader series of books for families, pre-teens, teens, and adults who are moving. Let the adventure begin! Read more

  • An Experience Akin To Getting Advice From Someone Who Wants To Help andor Mentor
I disclose that I actually purchased this kindlebook that is (Your Complete Guide for Successful Relocation) The Essential Moving Guide: Practical Advice To Create a Smooth Transition and Sense of Belonging by Sara Elizabeth Boehm by the June 28, 2019 timeframe via Amazon. There are a multitude of encouraging and helpful details in this kindlebook to include: some details on the author, finding a balance with staying in touch with friends from one’s previous location while making new friends in the new location, the author recommend why you might want to consider waiting at least 8 to 12 months to get use to the new location before visiting people you know in the previous resided location andor other previously lived locations, understanding your social environment, preparing for your first day of work, getting involved to make friends via joining groups/clubs andor volunteering when possible andor feasible, creating a sense of belonging wherever you are, and more. ... show more

  • Easy to read and helpful
I just started reading this--and already have picked up positive information that has me feeling better about getting ready for a move. She includes personal anecdotes from her experiences as well as other peoples comments--very helpful. As the title says "Practical advice"...and short of "beaming me and my stuff to a new location"--wouldn't that be nice?--this book is helping me out with good ideas and inspiration. ... show more

  • I keep waiting for moves to get easier, and ...
I keep waiting for moves to get easier, and I think it may next time with Boehms guidance. After six moves in 12 years, I finally have a guide how to do it right. The advice in here is practical and thoughtful. I look forward to passing this on to friends who are also in the moving mindset.

  • Practical and helpful for anyone experiencing a large relocation!
This book was handed to me while I was in the midst of a major relocation. The exceptionally solid advice helped me make peace with leaving my old city and saying goodbye to my friends and colleagues. Through the readings I was also provided a structured way to become familiar with my new surroundings, and adjust to my new work location. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone who is nervous about going through with a large relocation. ... show more

  • Organized advice
I wish I had a copy of this book earlier in my life! Very organized, practical, and helpful coaching through a move for a reader of just about any age. It was even a bit cathartic: I reflected on earlier moves as the author gave structure to the experiences and emotions of being the new person in town. ... show more

  • Like all of Boehm's guides
Like all of Boehm's guides, this book is pragmatic, practical and infused with optimism. The time leading up to (and during) a move is so stressful, it's easy to just take care of problems as they arise rather than plan and prevent issues from happening (or at least from being surprising!). This book will be on my gift list for all my friends and family heading for a move. ... show more

  • Boehm is the "Marie Kondo" of Moving!
As a person who's moved a lot in my life, I wish this book was available back then! Got this as a gift for an ex-colleague who moved across the country. Great gift... got the other one too for a graduating cousin.

  • Easiest move yet thanks to this book
Even though I moved as a child, it never got easy. I had bought the families version of this book for a friend and she loved it. So I bought this for myself. Glad I did. There were many things that I had not considered and in the end, I believe it really helped make my move easier.
