  • A Lovingly Prepared Tribute to the Humble Canoe
Canadians love their canoes in a way most Americans cannot understand. What the Steam Locomotive or the Conestoga Wagon is to our image of the settlement of the United States, the humble canoe is Canada's equivalent. "The Canoe-A Living History" is a monument to this Canadian love affair. The canoe and its close relatives the kayak, the wooden dugout and the umiak are raised from their utilitarian roles as water transport to works of high art. The different boats are lovingly photographed and the technical virtuosity of their designs is carefully explained. No expense was spared in the production of this book. It is absolutely beautiful! It is everything you could hope for in a "coffee table" style of book. Highly recommended! ... show more
