  • Does include some tropical (non-traditional) bonsai care
Kudos to Peter Chan for including specific information on non-traditional trees as well as traditional ones! However, he is missing one of the most popular group of non-traditional trees, Portulacaria afra and close relatives. This includes Dwarf Jades and Money Trees. The book was first published in 2014 in England, which may have an effect on the trees included. Also, for the reader in North America, there are a few words and phrases that are unfamiliar. The information included in the book is very easy to understand, and covers almost any situation. The instructions about different techniques are very clear. It is heavy on outdoor bonsai and the concerns of growing bonsai in one's yard, but does include a few indoor concerns. Of course, a review of bonsai tradition is included. This is the most complete book on bonsai that I have found on Kindle, mostly due to the detailed coverage of non-traditional trees. This is, in fact, the only one I have found with detailed information on these types of trees at all. Perhaps I'm being picky about the omission of a few, however, I own those trees, and I was disappointed not to find them included. ... show more

  • Type of tree can use for Bonsai trees.
Peter book is a nice book in general. You get a feel of what kind of tree you can use. No, money tree.😩

  • A "must have"...
I am a total beginner at bonsai and this book is a super reference for me. Peter Chan is a Bonsai Master and I follow him on YouTube. This book is a "go to" before I purchase or touch a tree. I will definately add more books by Mr. Chan to my reference library.

  • Just what I was looking for
I have followed Peter Chan's YT channel for some time and appreciate his expert but un-intimidating teaching style. With this compact little book I have all the info at my fingertips. It starts with all the basics of pruning and shaping (total newbie here) The info is very well organized and consistent for all plant types, many clear photos on strong water-resistant paper (I'll take it to my greenhouse). I'm super thrilled. ... show more

  • Not very in depth of care
Was looking for more care instructions but still informative on what bonsai options are available

  • The book is good quality binding and printing and informative.
Not far into it yet, but it's easy to read, informative and I can tell it will be handy to keep close. It covers all the plants good for bonsai in detail, much like an encyclopedia with a well written beginners section to start it off. Money well spent for a first book into Bonsai.
