  • Most efficient Cookbook with maximum flavor recipes for the home cook
Whoever put this cookbook together thought of everything to help a home cook put delicious healthy meals on the table. I have made 6 recipes from this cookbook and each one of them was a delight for the tastebuds. And in addition to that the meals were quick to prepare with very little clean up afterwards. I collect cookbooks and have studied cooking for 50 years. This is my all time favorite cookbook. The efficiency and the flavors are mind blowing. I have prepared the pear orange muffins, roasted tomatoe soup with parm crostini, pork tenderloin with quinoa , shrimp and zucchini noodles, egg muffins and the lentil salad with salmon. Being so impressed with the cookbook thus far I discovered that there was a second book by Good Housekeeping with the same format and more recipes. I just ordered the second book . ( actually what I call the second book may have actually been their first book done in this format) The cookbook itself is highly organized, straight forward with beautiful pictures of each dish. There is a daily weekly menu with a grocery list for each week. The recipes are sectioned in the week they are prepared making the recipes for the week readily available. In addition there is also information on pre prep for the recipes. The Mediterranean diet is widely known as the healthiest diet. In fact it was my doctor who suggested that I try the Mediterranean diet. I can say that one does not feel deprived on this diet and that it satisfies the tastebuds without leaving you feeling hungry. I am a food lover and a volume eater. So from my perspective I am amazed at how satisfying this diet really is. I find that some days I do not even need to eat everything on the menu for that day. Truly this is an easy life style change . Well done Good HouseKeeping! The people responsible for this cookbook deserve raises, promotions, and rewards. 👍 ... show more

  • Healthy eating
Great recipes but lot's of planning. Like anything worth it, it takes time and money . The healthier the food's (non gmo) the better for us but more expensive as well. Excellent binder, colorful photos and delicious food's.

  • Mediterranean cookbook
I just love a good cookbook with lots of pictures and a spiral back so it stays open. This one is set up for you to do a 28 diet - which I am not doing - but I did want some good mediterranean recipes because its my new eating directions. This cookbook did not disappoint! If you like lots of pics and recipes you might actually make, this one is a keeper. Sure, you can stream recipes all day long. I still enjoy holding the cookbook in my hand. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. All of my reviews reflect my honest, personal experience with the reviewed item - your experience may be different. I am not influenced by any outside source. I receive/accept NO free products or discounts that are not available to all shoppers- ever. I am a verified purchaser - not a paid reviewer. I have been doing honest, trustworthy reviews for well over 25 years with Amazon - posting thousands and thousands of reviews - which have been viewed over 8.2 million times to date. I am NOT a fake reviewer. BOTTOM LINE: I pay for ALL my stuff, just like you do - with hard earned dollars! ... show more

  • Meh…
I’m one week into using this cookbook and “diet plan“ and I’ve found that I am spending much more time in the kitchen than I would like and much more time and money at the grocery store, especially for the quality of meals so far. If you were hoping for the deep, savory flavors of the Mediterranean this cookbook is not for you. In week one, the pork tenderloin and seared salmon were the most flavorful dinners. I can’t honestly see wasting 250 of my daily calories on 1/2 cup of the vegan coconut Chia pudding as a breakfast (I know I’d still be hungry), so I’ve been sticking to the spinach and pepper mini frittatas. They reheat well in the microwave, and I can have two, and a slice of sprouted grain toast, but they are lacking flavor and have needed a dip in Siracha. The Day 1 plan says I can have 2 servings of the frittatas, but that would be 4 frittatas (can this be correct?). A 420 cal lunch of half an avocado and a quarter pound of shrimp also seems like a waste of daily calories and I’m pretty sure I’d still be hungry. There is a roasted squash and couscous salad that’s listed as 620 cal per serving (surely that can’t be right!), and it’s pretty darn flavorless. Week two looks a bit more promising, with chicken roulades for lunch, cod in parchment for dinner and something called beef kofta. But, again, lots of prep time. I’m cooking for one, so it’s hard to scale down the recipes without having random bits of weird ingredients left over. Some are freezable but many will go bad before I want to use them again - and my fridge is full of half cup containers of various beans. The only fruit I’ve seen in the meal plans are dried apricots and dates and they are used very sparingly. A small pear or apple can be eaten as a snack. There are no desserts. I will continue to soldier on with this, but I wish I could have done it during Lent. ... show more

  • Don't pass this gem up! The spiral bound is a wonderful investment
A lot of wonderful recipes. High quality spiral and the paper is think. The font is a great size for reading. Very well organized easy to find a favorite recipe to make again. The spiral binding makes it easy to fold back and keep open when cooking or baking.

  • Easy to Follow Book
I really like how easy to follow this recipe book is. I love the daily recipes and the weekly grocery list. What I don't like? Having to convert most recipes for one serving instead of four. I also don't like how some recipes have unusual ingredients that aren't available in rural Wisconsin like "Halloumi" or "Pecorino" cheese. In spite of these two complaints, I have really enjoyed most recipes. There's only been a couple I didn't like the "Roasted Squash and Couscous Salad"...the ingredients didn't taste good mixed all together. I would have rather eaten it all separately. ... show more
