If you're ever stressed about preparing workshops, this book will help you relax those shoulders and give you metaphorical bumper rails to keep you on target for a 10/10 strike. Leanne has condensed years of experience and interviews into her first book. I love the application of Priya Parker's work where this book is aimed to do exactly what it says it does, and nothing more. This keeps her process and approach easy to follow, logical to apply, and enjoyable to read! So much of my work is centered around workshops that no longer take half/full days, but rather 2ish hour sessions that provide value without overstaying their welcome. I've got new tricks and systems to try while feeling confident in some of the approaches I already apply that Leanne highlights. This book is a triumph from a true expert!

Fine for business meetings and personnel training

This book is geared more toward presenters who orchestrate business meetings and personnel training. I was looking for information regarding workshops in academic settings, so much of it did not apply to me. However, the advice was practical and thoroughly understandable.

Very doable

I love this book. It is concise in its offering. I usually run 15 to 20-day training programs and find this book helps keep me on track by organizing information, activities, and practice sessions into 2-hour segments. The blueprint makes course/project creation simple and very doable. I am currently using it to help me write a book. This blueprint is easily adaptable to tasks, projects, training, meetings, and so much more.

Amazing, even for seasoned facilitators!

I've been creating and facilitating trainings for years but never stepped back to think about my formal process. I read Leanne's book in about two sittings because I just couldn't put it down. In under 200 pages, Leanne provides an incredibly clear, practical, and followable process for creating your workshops. Rather than brain dumps on a PowerPoint or making it up as you go, she provides concrete steps to take at each step of the creative process. I love how her tone is encouraging and fun. Leanne also shares with you template documents for her SPARK sheet and other forms that I've already found to be incredibly helpful in creating my newest classes. Thank you, Leanne - I wish this book had existed decades ago!

Great little guidebook to building engaging workshops

Leanne Hughes shares her SPARK framework for creating engaging, memorable workshops. As a seasoned speaker and trainer, my goal was to learn more about others' tactics for engaging their audience and I got that out of this. This covers the whole process from planning the workshop to how to set your attendees and yourself up for a successful engagement. I look forward to mixing it up with even more options for activities besides the ones I already incorporate in my practices. Easy to implement!

I read this book on a flight to a facilitation workshop. I finished it in the hotel and started implementing some of it the following day in the training. Leanne breaks down the ideas, and they are very easy to understand. This book contains practical steps that are easy to understand and get results immediately with participants. If you're a seasoned facilitator or just getting started, this is a must-read. Thank you, Leanne, for creating this book! It's worth every penny!
