  • Works very well AND a workout! 🙂
This dethatcher rake works better than I thought it would. I had power-dethatched most of my large yard in the past, but it’s been awhile and there are always small areas that are best done by hand anyway. It IS a workout, so I think my recommendation for any dethatcher rake like this would either be for a smaller yard or to spot-use in a larger yard as I am. Assembly was mostly easy; the screw-together handle pieces weren’t as smooth to screw together as other tools I’ve used. On a positive note, the hey key included is a keeper! No directions are needed; just two bolts to attach the head. Note in the photo of the blades that one side is different from the other, and flipping the rake one way or the other seemed to work better in different patches. As usual with dethatching of any sort, it was beneficial to go over an area a few times…once East-West and then another North-South, so to speak. As you can see in the photo, I removed an awful lot of thatch from an area roughly 7’ by 4’. It feels solid in the hand and sturdy. There aren’t any rough spots nor flex in the handle and the manufacturing quality seems high. I’m impressed and would recommend this rake to anyone who has a need to remove thatch by hand! ... show more

  • Nice affordable Thatch Rake
The tines of this thatch rake are strong and durable feeling. It did a good job of lifting the thatch in my yard. I would say that this manual thatch rake would be good for small lawns or small sections of lawn that you have an issue with. There is a bit of physical exertion with this rake so if you have a larger area to de-thatch you will probably want something mechanical. The handle comes in sections you put together. One of the sections I had to push in with some force to get it to catch the threads inside. The handle is made of a lightweight material that does not seem to be of the same quality as the rake head so I expect to have to replace the handle at some point in the future. I would give this rake 5 stars if another stronger material was used for the handle. That being said, it's not bad for a small area that you keep up with regularly. For the price point this will be fine for that. ... show more

  • A great Dethatcher Rake
This rake is heavy duty and made of carbon steel and stainless steel. The handle is in 4 sections and is adjustable so different heights of people who can use it. It can be used to seed, fertilizer and cultivate your lawn. It will enable you to clean up dead grass, leaves, branches, etc. It is light weight so it is easy on your back. The ergonomically designed handle makes it a pleasure to work with. This rake works much better than a regular garden rake as far as dethatching. ... show more

  • It's ok...
Style: B1
I've never used one before but always wanted to at least try it. Of course I tried it on one of the hottest days of the year. Just did a small area and it showed me I have a lot more weeds than grass. It pulled up thatch too, don't get me wrong. Like another reviewer, it fell apart after the first few pulls. But then I really choked up on the pushing and twisting and it stayed together the rest of the time. One of the bolt holes wasn't all the way removed and I had to punch it out. The "wrench" that it comes with is a waste and should not have been included. If anything, it should have had simple assembly instructions and a required tools list. It's a 13mm nut, btw. The provided T hex handle was a nice addition. This is definitely something I'm going to play with on those weekends I feel like doing heavy yardwork. Not a difficult tool to use by any means, but definitely a time consuming task. ... show more

  • Handy for debris after hurricane
I got this guy to yank those pesky weeds but after the hurricane blew thru it came in very handy when raking up all the debris in the yard. I haven’t tried it yet in the yard but I can tell you this works very well in the garden area and spreading dirt. It didn’t come with instructions but it’s really self explanatory on how to put it together. Mine held up fine and didn’t fall apart ... show more

  • No instructions, but simple enough to assemble
Style: B1
Upon assembly I tried rake out and the handle comes apart. Have reassembled multiple times. Nothing secures the joined sections except a slightly groove. Unless something was not sent to secure them permanently other than the rake to pole bracket.

  • Sturdy
Style: B1
I used this rake on Bermuda grass. It was lightweight which made it easy to cut through the thatch. It was very easy to assemble, just snap the different sections of the poles together. They attach with shark bite type fit. I do like that you can adjust the length of the handle by taking out sections. Overall good value. ... show more

  • Versatile
Style: B1
I purchased this rake specifically to make narrow channels in my soil before overseeding, and it works well for that purpose. For removing thatch, it's decent, but I still prefer my TrueTemper rake because it's easier to handle and more effective at removing thatch. The pole feels a bit flimsy since it's made of several thin metal pieces screwed together, but this design does allow for easy shortening if needed. The overall build of the rake head is solid, with sturdy metal fins. I would recommend this for anyone looking for an adjustable thatch rake, though the regular price might be a bit high. It's definitely worth picking up on sale. ... show more
