  • How the Terro T800 Garbage Guard Saved My Roof (and Marriage)—One Maggot at a Time
Style: 1 Pack
PICTURE THIS: I walk outside into the darkest of nights, carrying the days trash and armed with a simple flashlight. I spot the trash bin, shine the light, and TO MY HORROR is see that it is completely covered in maggots! Being the valiant knight that I am, I called my wife to be a witness to this horror. She stepped outside into the disgusting maggot filled world and immediately made the decision to grab a gas can and burn it all down! I stepped infront of her and my heart stopped. My wife glared. And I, in sheer panic, found myself awkwardly bargaining, “What if I just burn the trash can?!” Cue the smell of smoke… or was that terror? Then I discovered the Terro T800 Garbage Guard Trash Can Insect Killer—an unsung hero in pest control. This compact pod (treats up to 50 cubic feet) adheres to the inside of trash bins or dumpsters, releasing a silently potent, odorless vapor that penetrates deep to kill flies, roaches, maggots, beetles, and forest reserves of teeny trash‑can critters. It’s controlled-release technology at its finest, long‑lasting up to 4 months. Installation? So easy even my trash-phobic self managed it—just stick the adhesive strip (best to clean the lid first), pop it inside, and close the lid. No residue, no fuss. The result? A fly killer, insect prevention, maggot deterrent all in one tidy, odorless package. I slapped that little pod into the can, held my breath, and… watched the maggots vanish. It was like someone hit the “reset” on trash infestation. My wife stopped drafting the fire permits, I stopped sweating actual flames—and tranquility was restored. In short: Compact and easy-to-use insect killer for trash cans, outdoor or garage Deep-penetrating, odorless vapor kills and prevents pests Treats large bins (up to 50 cu ft) with just one pod Lasts up to 4 months—“set-it-and-forget-it” bug defense Pure comedic relief: no more maggot horror scenes, no more kitchen arson threats So if your garbage can becomes the next maggot incubator, skip the lighter and grab the Terro T800 Garbage Guard—your odorless, fly-killing peace-maker. Trust me, marriage counseling (and fire insurance) will thank you. ... show more

  • Terro T800 — kills the beasts so you can keep your sanity! Terro T800 — kills the beasts so you can keep your sanity!
Style: 1 Pack
We just moved into a recently renovated/flipped home. Everything was brand new and the home was clean, clean, clean! But, we had this horrible problem — flies! We couldn’t open the garage door or take out the trash or even come in the front door without flies getting in. Considering how diseased these critters are, I didn’t want them in my home. At one point I had killed 10 in a single day.. in my home! Enough was enough! We had purchased one of those rectangular zappers you see, rebranded a thousand times, for $40 on amazon and they do work great (although loud and a bit scary to handle.) Even though it was killing our active flies, the problem still persisted. My friend told me to wash out the trash can outside (the likely source of these flies) with bleach and soap water after the trash had been taken. So I did. I bleached and watched all those larvae go toodles into the soapy and bleach abyss. I thought that would be it. But, nope! Two days later, I’m taking out the trash and lift up my trash can and am met with a swarm of no less than 30 flies. 30!! Where did they come from in two days?! So, I turned to Amazon once again. I saw that Terro had a garbage guard for $7 that had decent reviews. So I figured it wouldn’t hurt. I risked it and purchased the Terro T800. It arrived the next day. When I got it, it didn’t smell like anything. It’s super tiny. I thought in NO WAY would this thing do anything. But I stuck it anyway to the garbage kid, and like another reviewer suggested, I put it by the hinge to help prevent it from being knocked out by trash. Then, I close the lid reluctantly. I was pretty sure this tiny, non electrical, non-smelly thing wasn’t going to do SQUAT. Like all the vitamin reviews on Amazon, I was pretty sure any review was made up. But, I left it alone. I came back two days later to take out more trash and was preparing my fateful demise involving 30 more flies. My hand went up to my face. I made sure to close my mouth — you know, just in case. One fly. One came out. WHAT? I look into the trash can which has been previously alive with maggots and saw none. NONE. And what I saw were a bunch of dead fly bodies. Those horrible vermin were gone. This must have what it felt like to be Dexter.. I have officially wiped out the enemy with punishable death. Two days later I return and just a moth comes out and the flies are still dead. It’s been a week and I have not had to kill a single fly in my house. It’s been a week and I have not had to suffer the annoying sound of the bzzzz behind my head as I read a book and then turn around with anger, “Where are you!” I no longer have the guts of flies smashed on my palms as I smash them against the window in my vain quest to rid them from my house. To think, months of suffering with flies and all I had to do was get this Terro Garbage Guard. It is $7 with prime and will be the best investment for you! I cannot recommend it’s enough. Thank you, Terro, for giving me my sanity back. ... show more

  • Lord of the Flies
Style: 1 Pack
I purchased this product in August, it is now November and I belive this product is supposed to last 4 months and let me tell you how the last few months went: the day after gluing the pod to the lid, I noticed a few dead flies on the bottom of the trash can but still a lot of live ones. I gave it a few days but flies and maggots were still living in my trash can. After a couple of weeks I came to the conclusion that this product works so-so, it killed a few flies but not enough to fix my fly issue. At one point maggots even started crawling around and inside the pod like it was nothing! I left it alone as weather started to cool off ( I live in SC so by cool off, I mean below 80°) and I started seeing less flies but I think the weather change had more to do with it than this product. As weather fluctuated between a few cool days and warm days, the amount of flies also fluctuated. Two days ago, after trash was picked up, they left the lid open and I noticed the my trash can was FULL of flies and maggots, there were so many of them flying around that I couldn't even get close to the trash can. I finally decided enough is enough and I grabbed my garden hose and began rinsing off the trash can to get all of the nastiness off and the maggots. While I was spraying the lid, the pod fell off and fell on my driveway, I thought "oh well, its trash anyway" and continued spraying the trash can until I felt it was clean and moved on. Now here's the horrifying part: I dont know what about the pod getting wet caused this but a few hours later, I noticed flies gathering around the pod and seemed to be dying? The next morning even more flies were gathering around it, there's so many of them you can't get close and its really disgusting! There are so many flies and they're all coming to my driveway 😭😭 I'm attaching a video of what I'm looking at when I look at my driveway. This product definitely didn't work as intended and now I feel like the lord of the flies with all of these flies gathering and dying in my driveway and I dont know how many more will come but I don't want to get close and pick up the pod. ... show more

  • Product Works / Adhesive Missing Multiple Times
Style: 1 Pack
The product seems to work well & for a long time. Thus, I give it 4 stars. However, like many others, I have had issues with the adhesive. I know of at least 2 times (possibly more) they didn’t even include the adhesive patch with the product. The other is, I’ve had to replace the whole thing because the adhesive didn’t hold and the guard was gone. I’ve read a few ideas from other reviewers for workarounds. I do have to say that I find it somewhat frustrating that the adhesive has been completely left out of the packaging, multiple times. ... show more

  • This works if you can get the adhesive strip to work, not a sticky wicket!!
Style: 1 Pack
I have purchased this Terro T800 several times for my Simply Human stainless kitchen trash can. The first application in 2023 worked well and kept tiny fruit flies and larvae from sticking to the inside and hatching almost overnight. This first one lasted about 5 months and was very effective. I found that the double sided adhesive tape held well and was even hard to remove it all for future applications. The problem now with the 2d and 3d units was that first, there was no adhesive included in the top half of the pouch that you have to cut off to use,it was not included!! I had to use a separate double stick tape for it to work. The 3d unit had very poor adhesive nand the expensive plastic insect killer fell off the lid and was lost in the trash where I did not see that it was missing until a week later. Besides being over priced, someone needs to make a better adhesive for this product. When it works it works fine for a long time and I now use a spray “ZEVO” can spray one a week with a new bag at quite a savings. ... show more

  • time will tell
Style: 2 Pack
high star rating, but do not yet know if it kills/killed any insects -- the 1" square sticky, sticks well, but was difficult to get the backing off of both sides -- I installed one under the lid of my "roller" garbage can -- the weather changed and I haven't seen any pests in the garage where the can is so... -- the directions are in tiny print and I have not yet taken a magnifying glass to them so I'm not up on the details other than to see that it kills a fairly large variety of bugs -- I had one thought while installing -- find a place where it won't get hit by the garbage when dumping -- the plastic caseing for the bait/poison is much more durable than I was expecting ... show more

  • Kills Everything In the Garbage Can!
Style: 2 Pack
I figured if one of these is good, two will be even better so I used some gorilla double sided tape to mount the two little containers of insect killer on the inside top of my garbage can lid. Before there were always flies buzzing around because it gets really hot here in the summer and when I looked into the garbage can I knew something had to be done. So after washing out the garbage can real good with some disinfectant spray cleaner I installed these and they are working great. I even see dead flies around the rim of the garbage can and some dying inside. This stuff works! Don't doubt it. I would however wear a face mask next time I install these because this is not a scented product and you can't tell if you are breathing any in yourself. I suggest they scent it slightly so you'd know! I advise only using this in an open area and OUTSIDE! This is not for indoor use! Now each time I got to put the garbage out I am not attacked by flying insects! It is great. I'd definitely get more of these next summer. I am using two at a time! They will last 4 months! Install them at the end of spring and you'll be good for the summer. I am not a doctor, nor is this review medical advice. Please consult with a professional if need be. ~The Rebecca Review ... show more
