The media could not be loaded. I purchased this drone a few weeks ago and have been playing with it and getting the hang of it. I've been wanting to get into drones for a while but haven't had the chance until more recently. Took it out to a friend's place to play with and it's pretty sweet. I'll rate the drone on a few different categories and then give my final ranking. The attached video is a few clips spliced together: some of me recording the drone in flight, and some from the drone while flying. Picture is of some friends, faces blacked out for privacy. FUNCTIONALITY: 4.5/5 stars The drone has a built-in HD camera and it uses a local wifi network (created by the drone, no internet access) to pair your smartphone and the drone. The controller has a little stand you can put your phone into, and I have a pretty large phone and it fit just fine, which was awesome. The phone screen shows you various controls on the drone and, of course, the camera. I don't have a VR set but it would be really neat to get a VR headset, put the phone in it, and fly the drone around to get a first-person view whilst flying it. The camera does not have audio (that I can find), so the recordings are just video. It can also take pictures as well. It occasionally took the clicking of a few buttons on the controller to get the phone and drone paired, and sometimes they would get disconnected (I think if I flew the drone too far), so that was a little annoying, but not a huge issue as it was pretty easy to get reconnected. We used the drone to even herd some cows and it worked great! EASE OF USE: 5/5 Very easy to use. The controls are straightforward: the left joystick makes the drone go up or down, or rotates it on its axis so the camera can face a different direction. The right joystick makes the drone actually go back/forward/right/left. There are a few hidden controls (discussed in the manual) like "point both joysticks diagonally and inward/toward yourself to take off." Just read the manual, it explains it fairly well. The only issue I had was that I made the mistake of flying the drone on a pretty windy day. That meant that sometimes even if I was going full throttle forward, if I was going against the wind, the drone would be stationary or even flying backwards. A friend got the drone caught in a tree once due to the wind (although we got it down without an issue). I'd recommend flying it in the kind of weather that would be bad for a kite: that is, little to no wind. BATTERY: 4/5 The battery is the weakest part of the design. I don't recall how long it is rated for, but each battery probably only lasts about 30 minutes if you are pushing the drone non-stop. Not sure how much actively recording while flying contributes to that since the camera is always on anyways. I did charge the battery for a long time and waited until the little charge indicator light went from red to green (a nice touch, by the way) before using it so I know it was fully charged. However, the drone set does come with TWO batteries, so even though they die fairly quickly, you can just swap the new one in and get back into the air. Both batteries have USB C ports, so you can plug a charge directly into them and charge them conveniently and quickly. No proprietary adapter needed. The phone view will also show you how much battery life is left (1–4 bars and then the battery goes red at the end), and if the battery is too low, the drone will refuse to fly over like a foot off the ground. This is a good safety feature because you don't want the drone to die at like 40 feet in the air! I wish the batteries lasted longer, but I also know this is a light drone that can't be weighed down too much or it won't be very maneuverable, and I appreciate that they make up for the short battery life by providing multiple. DURABILITY: 5/5 I crashed this thing into a few trees, got it stuck in some branches, and accidentally flipped it a few times on the ground—and it never had any issues. If you're less lucky, however, it does come with some replacement blades if they get damaged. That's the other advantage of it being a lighter device: it doesn't get hurt as much when you crash it. OVERALL RATING: 5/5 - I really enjoy playing with this drone. It's a cool device, pretty safe to use (the blades didn't hurt my hand when I accidentally grabbed them while it was on), was a pretty low-cost investment for something I can use for a while, and while there are certainly very expensive drones out there that might be a lot better, I think this is a 5 star product because of the lower price point it's at. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is a very cool drone for beginner drone-pilots and has some neat features worth mentioning. While this won't be the fanciest drone on the market ($129 is a pretty low price for a drone—they can get really expensive), it's a good feature set for the price you pay. 1. It has 4 flashing lights on the undersides (covered by white caps—one of the white caps broke off when I crashed the drone into a tree - oops! Light and drone still worked though!). These signal different modes like calibration, pairing, etc, but I imagine will also make the drone look really cool when flying it at night (which I didn't test). 2. The drone has a lot of advanced capabilities — not all of which I was brave enough to try — but the ones I did try were awesome: A. It has the ability to automatically return to the pilot when the battery is low, which is very handy. B. The drone can land and take off wit just one button on the controller. C. You can use it with any smartphone using the built in wifi network to connect your phone and view the drone's camera with your phone. You can also record video and photos from your phone using the drone's built-in camera. You can add a microSD card to the drone for more storage capabilities, too. D. You can calibrate the drone's GPS and gyroscope for better navigation E. The app on your phone shows you how far away the drone is and how high it is in meters. 3. The drone is really light and the batteries don't last super long for that reason. You can't have a drone at this price point that is this small and light and have long-lasting batteries, because batteries always weigh a lot the bigger they are. I was impressed that the batteries lasted about 20 minutes each, and I appreciated that it came with 2 so I could swap one out when it got low and have another 20 minutes of flying! 4. The controller itself is pretty cool. I've used some drones that require you to use your smartphone, but this one doesn't. You can leave your phone behind and fly using just the controller, which has a built-in mini screen that shows things like GPS status and other various settings. I really like that. I was able to use the drone to herd some cows, and get some really great views from really high up in the sky. It's a great little drone and would be really fun with a VR headset! ... show more

For the price this drone is a great value. In GPS mode it's solid at holding its position in light winds. The controls are smooth with slight inputs from the pilot. It's just fun to fly. It comes nicely packaged and the documentation is adequate for someone that already has some drone experience but may not be entirely clear for a first time pilot. Included is spare rotor blades and a phillips screwdriver. Like most drone manufacturers/resellers the advertised flight time on a fresh battery is exagerated. 14 -15 minutes per battery is what you can expect with moderate maneuvering in a light breeze. If you are flying in a light breeze you'll want to set the drone at high speed. The image quality from the camera is pretty good for this price range. The camera angle adjustment using the remote is smooth. If you desire super high quality video you'll have to shell out considerably more money for a drone with gimbles to steady the video. I have other drones and I didn't buy this one for image quality. I just wanted to fly it for fun. If you are a beginner I'd highly advise NOT flying in non-GPS mode. The drone lacks any manual trim controls and you'll have to stay on the sticks to keep control. In GPS mode it picks up enough sattelites to fly quicker than some other small drones I own. I suspect some reviewers that reported runaways weren't flying in GPS mode. Other reviewers have reported problems with a motor or 2 not spinning up on startup. I experienced this and found just bumping the problem motor gently got it going. After a couple of flights that problem went away in my case.
