When you wash and dry them they WILL shed a lot of "fluff" for the first two or three washes, but they keep getting softer and softer. They dry much faster and more thoroughly than my other towels. I'm happy with these. They are good for the price. They aren't as thick and fluffy as my other towels but not bad at all. The cotton is reasonably soft and as absorbent as it should be. 100% cotton is important to me. I think synthetic blend towels are no good because they aren't very absorbent. When I received these towels I was sure they were exactly what I wanted. I got one of my existing towels and compared the color, almost a perfect match. Then as I do with all textile purchases, I put them in the laundry. Then is when I had my big let down. The color that almost matched my existing charcoal grey towels was gone and I had a bunch of blue towels that don't match anything! I love these towels, but several of them frayed with long strings after washing even though I followed the manufacturers instructions. The rest seem to be fine and are my favorite towels. They're soft and very absorbent even though they are not overly thick.
