I just wanted to kill him the first time I saw cigarette butts in my precious plants! So as not to be convicted of a later homicide, I purchased this little gem! It's super cute, you could probably use it for many things including putting water or bird seeds in-if you like, and if you have lots of little bird visitors to your patio as I do. It is sturdier and a lot nicer than I expected and I almost didn't want to use it as an ashtray. It would look nice in the kitchen or a hallway table or even in your bedroom to hold keys and other little items. Attractive, well finished and conveniently sized. No downsides to report yet, but I do expect the finish on the top and inside to discolor over time as other wooden ashtrays I own have done. Still, it's nicely made, priced right, and a great size. Country of origin is China which is probably why the product description says things like "It is made of natural tree, which makes you enjoy the pleasure of returning to nature." Don't know how effective it will be in making me feel like I'm returning to nature, but as an ashtray, it works just fine. ... show more

I do not smoke, but I have family members who do so. I wanted an item I could use on a covered porch that is an interesting piece, yet functional. The round wooden cigarette ashtray serves a function AND looks nice just sitting on the table. I also have a plant and a piece of drift wood on the table. Horrible product. Arrived with chips missing from its bark. Additionally the wood cracked down the middle just sitting there with no ash in it. Presumably from drying out. When we received the package it was very wet with condensation. Stay away from this cheap Chinese crap. Our American wood workers are much more talented. ... show more
