  • True Brit
Format: Hardcover
Warning: contents may be excellent for your health. Fortnum's T-book will not disappoint as it captures the quality and tone found in Piccadilly It is a true delight in every sense of the word: if you never set foot in a kitchen you would find the volume full of delicious and imaginatively creative morsels you would want to share with those nearest and dearest. It is a great gift to one's self and to one's hostess who appreciates quality, the refined palate and life, the energy and dedication to maintain same, plain old tradition, and the value of a generous spirit. It would be at home equally in the kitchen library or at a bedside where thoughts of sugarplums are real. Do not resist. Your heart will melt and your senses will be heightened. There will always be Fortnum's. Thanks be! ... show more

  • An excellent book for tea lovers
Format: Hardcover
Most of the books I've read about tea have been window dressing--all fuzzy pictures and romance. As a tea lover with a brain, I want substance, facts, and usable recipes. This little book delivers all of the above, along with great photos, fun reproductions of historical ads, and the odd line of quirky British humor. It makes no pretense to be a scholarly tome, but it's got substance, personality, and charm. The recipes are practical for the home cook, and offer a range that goes beyond the obvious. The obvious are here too (scones, cucumber sandwiches, et al), but there are also recipes such as Stilton and Fig Tart, and Gingerbread with Prunes and Ale. I've tried several so far, and the results were excellent. This book would make a wonderful gift for anyone who loves tea. ... show more

  • Oh So Good
Format: Hardcover
Fortnum and Mason is one of my favorite shops in the whole world. I love everything about them, especially the Teas and delicious confections. I bought this book not really knowing how well the recipes would translate, but boy am I glad I did. Living in the USA it costs a pretty penny to have items shipped to me from the UK. With this book I've been able to recreated some of my favorite items in my own kitchen. the recipes really do turn out just like the store product. I've had so many great comments on the rose biscuits, which is an absolute favorite of mine as well. The recipes are in British measurements, but they are easy enough to convert. This book also has a really interesting read on the history of the store. It is also nice and compact. A tiny little book full of timeless recipes. ... show more

  • Enjoying it thoroughly so far, and haven't even tasted anything yet
Format: Hardcover
I had just been to London for my first and probably only time and was completely unaware of Fortnum & Mason up until walking into the duty-free shop in Heathrow airport. There I found their products and some rose biscuits that were to-die-for. Wanting to reproduce them (since shipping from there would unfortunately be rather extravagant), stumbled upon this book with a key recipe. Multiple recipes look absolutely scrumptious and I'm looking forward to trying them. The book is not just recipes, in the beginning there is actually a history of tea that is a pretty interesting read! Nice illustrations and photos in this book - it's well put together. Nice little book that would make a cute gift for anyone enthusiastic about tea. ... show more

  • The Compact recipe book
Format: Hardcover
I really enjoyed the "Taking Tea" section, it lists the various types of teas, the flavors of teas, what to add to the teas to enhance it's flavor, and the food pairings for the teas. This book treats tea like fine wine. The recipes that are included appear to be taken directly from F&M's tea service. The book is bound in the signature F&M blue with gold interior pages, gorgeous. I seems the publication was intentionally made in this small size to make the book more affordable, I can take it with me where ever I go. It's a lovely little book and I look forward to making treats from it. ... show more

  • One of the best tea books
Format: Kindle
I collect tea books, and this is my favorite. A brief history and explanation of tea is followed by authentic recipes for tea- time. Fortnum and Mason, one of my favorite places to visit for tea in London, has generously shared some of their delicious recipes in this book. Perhaps if you go to London, you will visit one of their sites. They are a three hundred year old grocery that supplies the Queen. The clerks wear tails, and the doorman has a top hat. There is a wonderful tea salon there. Having this book will help me recreate one of my best tea experiences in London! ... show more

  • Excellent Afternoon Tea Party Recipes from Fortnum & Mason
Format: Kindle
I love how this recipe book came out from Fortnum & Mason, a prestigeous and well-known tea purveyor and also host afternoon tea parties in England. They feature recipes, if you want to do a Tea Party for an afternoon gathering for a book club, new products review club and other social gathering events. Some of their famous selections are here like their basic shortbread, watercress tea sandwiches and other staples you find in an Afternoon Tea Party. Just an awesome recipe book filled with pictures and easy to follow recipes. ... show more

  • Coffee table-quality on a small scale
Format: Hardcover
A small, elegant book with beautiful color photos and great recipes. Endorsed by the Chairman of Fortnum & Mason, it would make a very tasteful gift with a tin of F&M's beautifully packaged tea. Williams-Sonoma has the lowest online prices for that. The hardcover book lists at $19.99. I bought a Like New copy on Amazon Marketplace for $9.94 Total. ... show more
