Honestly, this bass is fire!!!! It plays as good as it looks. It feels comparable to something twice the price. Chinese guitars usually get low-grade electronics, and I assume these pickups are just that — but they sound surprisingly good. I bought the bass for the novelty and extended range of having a 7-string, plus I love the way it looked. I intended on swapping out the pick ups with something better, but I actually think I will keep these! They actually sound really good and have a lot of versatility between the tone knobs. There’s even a coil-split and a passive bypass! It needed a set up when it arrived — the neck needed some major relief added, and the action needed to be lowered — but within 30 minutes, it was feeling great. The one major negative was that it arrived with a faulty input jack. I don’t know if it’s something Chinese or not, but it was like none of my cords could make proper contact (despite working normally on all my other guitars). A cheap Chinese 1/4” cable came with the bass and if I inserted it and then rotated it in a certain way, it at least allowed me to produce sound to test the rest of it. I contacted the seller and they were extremely professional and helpful and were more than accommodating in resolving the issue. I will have to replace the jack. The other (minor) negative was that my bass did not come with the classic maple fretboard that is seen in the picture. Instead, it is a darker type of wood — perhaps roasted maple, but I have been unable to verify that. The seller states that the rest of the basses in their warehouse all have the same darker fretboard, so exchanging wasn’t an option for this. I would have preferred the light maple for its looks and feels, however, I was able to overlook this aspect because it still looks and plays great. The last small downside is that since I was given a bass with a very dark fretboard, they still used black dots on the side of the fretboard to mark the frets. Especially since the neck is so wide, the side fret markers are so important for staying on track but it’s almost impossible to see these black dots, especially in darker settings. However, I plan to buy small glow-in-the-dark fretboard markers at some point and I think that’ll fully resolve this issue. All things considered, I am fully satisfied with this purchase, and I am comfortable making this review based on my experience. I read another review about the preamp going bad — I hope that doesn’t happen to me. Assuming it doesn’t, I would fully recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable 7-string bass! ... show more

This bass is a bargain. It’s exactly what it looks like. Maple/Mahogany neck through, Mahogany body capped with spalted Poplar. Black stained Maple fretboard with (I’m guessing) stainless steel frets, and two dual action truss rods. What you can’t see is the plastic nut, mediocre electronics, unleveled frets, and somewhat rough woodworking job. If you’re like me though and already have a Bartolini pickup system you can install, know how to file a nut and have the proper tools, and do fret leveling and neck adjustments, then this bass is an absolute steal. ... show more

I have mixed feelings about this bass. The instrument has a beautiful body and is a 7-string bass, which is not bad for the money. However, it needed a setup to relieve tension on the neck, to lower the action, and to set the intonation on the bridge saddles. I also noticed that the volume distorts when turned up loudly. The distortion could be beneficial if used correctly. In addition, the fret board was not the maple one that was shown in the ad for the instrument. Finally, the input jack “crackled” when I used my normal 1/4 cords, but did not make a peep with the skinny cord that came with it. The pickups are just “ok”, nothing to write home about. I know how to fix these things myself, but I have purchased basses that were gig ready. In summation, it’s not a bad bass for the money, but it does require some work to make it playable. ... show more

I’ve had my eye on a seven string for a while but couldn’t get my hands on one to play. I took a chance with an online company since it was through Amazon and I am not disappointed at all. The quality far exceeds the price tag with features like the through body neck and individual bridge saddles. The tone and playability are great as well. I would lower the action but beyond that, this bass is amazing. I’m glad I went with this company. They have far exceeded my expectations. ... show more
