First of all i like the style of this bookshelf. Installation was very easy. I spent 45min by myself with hand screw driver, would be faster with power tool. Quality is light and used cheaper material But u get what you paid for. Highly recommend to stabilize it on the wall So it won't fall.

Pros: 1. If you are looking for a shelf unit that is not as big as traditional full sized units but also isn't as narrow/small as a 12x12 cube shelves, this is a nice choice. I was using this in a bedroom so I felt a slightly smaller size would work better in that type of space than a traditional size, that works in a living room space. I tried the 15" shelving unit and that size made everything look really boxed in, so I returned for this one, and it has a much nicer balance and still allows me to display things on the shelves with an open look. The 9 inch depth is especially nice and something I will look for for all my shelves going forward. It is wide enough to fit all novel-sized books with about 1" to spare, and is less intrusive into your space because it is 3 inches shallower than traditional sized shelving. Love that!! No purpose for that extra 3" at all; just takes up space in your home. 2. Very easy to assemble. I literally put it together at midnight when I couldn't get to sleep due to an important meeting in the AM. lol It took about 20 minutes. The back panel is actually five individual panels and slide in independently. And unlike the typical thin cardboard backing, these panels are thick and sturdy. Cons: 1. I would prefer it to have been 70 inches tall because the slightly shorter 67" seems more like a kids room item since it's not full height, but that's still 5 feet, 7 inches so it's not exactly short either. I put an item on top to give the appearance of more height. 2. It isn't super sturdy, but only because of it's 24" width rather than because it isn't well built. The narrower width makes it less surface area to stand on, and so it can be a little wobbly. The shelves can support full weight of books without issue though. Probably best to anchor the unit to the wall to "fix" this issue. (I don't have it anchored and it is on carpet; I only have one shelf of books, other shelves are trinkets) 3. Biggest con is by far the thickness of all the boards strictly because they are too thin to support the (still very thin) screws for assembly. Several areas on the shelves are slightly bulged where the screws are set in because the particle board is so thin that putting anything into it would bulge it out. Also due to the thinness, on the sides of the unit, you can see dimples where the back side screw assembly had to be inserted. I actually made them less tight when I noticed this was happening to avoid too much dimpling, but really the fact that it does it at all is the problem. Pay close attention while you are inserting screws into any part of this unit for these reason. Ultimately I managed to not puncture a screw through anywhere but it definitely wouldn't be on the customer if someone accidentally did do that because you really have to pay close attention to it. Ultimate opinion: I still really like this unit. I didn't like the screw/bulge issue, but otherwise it is a good size for a bedroom. I wouldn't choose this for a living room as I think it would look weirdly small for that room. But for a bedroom it's good. Or for a kids room it would also work, although a small child (maybe less than 8) likely couldn't reach the top shelf safely so keep that in mind. ... show more

I realize these are inexpensive shelves. I was totally prepared for laminated fiber board and instructions that would be hard to follow or inadequate. But I did expect that I would receive a sealed box with all the parts I needed to assemble the shelf. I bought 2 of these, hence the reason I say shelves. The boxes were in rough shape, as if they had been opened and resealed several times. In both cases, I was missing screws. I was also missing 2 shelves and several pieces of the backboard. Some of these factors could have been addressed by a trip to the hardware store, but to better explain the poor quality of these shelves, you need to know that the screws go directly though the long side of the shelf (the 2 vertical side pieces) into the fiber board of the horizontal shelf. That means that there are no pegs supporting the shelves, instead the shelves are going to splinter if you put any weight on them. The backboard of the unit should provide support since it sits inside a slot for each separate shelf. So, the outer frame of the shelf has 2 vertical pieces (the sides), a top, and a bottom. Then there are 4 shelves screwed into the frame. Adding the bottom of the unit, you have 5 shelves, which means you have 5 pieces of backboard. Well, if you are missing pieces (screws, shelves, and backboard, in my case) any minimal integrity there might have been in the shelf is lost. To make this whole process even more frustrating, there are notes inside the packaging that say, all returns must be in their original packaging. Well, that’s practically impossible. By the time I purchase enough tape to hold this hodgepodge of crap back into these things that used to be boxes, I could just go buy a used shelf on Facebook marketplace and make better use of my money! Incredibly dissatisfied! Complete waste of money! ... show more

The cabinet is easy to assemble and looks nice, but in no way it can be used as a book case. It's too weak for books. All the boards are just 7/16" thick and the material they are made of is not sturdy - it's very friable. Even with the small force of screwing the case some screws get loose.
