I had not heard about 'poke art' before ordering this set - but I like it alot! This set came with 10 adorable cards - all very cute graphics. Each card has indentations indicating where to poke the small square of paper. Set the card on the included styrofoam. Pick up a square, center it over indentation, use the sharp-ish (but not too sharp for kids) point of the poker tool and poke the paper into the indentation. When the paper is poked in, it naturally takes on a twisted, almost flower shape. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Colorful, fun, no mess. My only suggestion would be for the set to include more than one piece of styrofoam and more than one poking tool so that multiple people can 'play' at the same time. Once your piece is finished (or at the beginning if you choose), you can punch out the little graphic from the card and sit on a shelf or use it for play or just admire it. This craft is meant for children, but also a calming, repetitive craft for people of all ages. ... show more

I got these for my kids who are 3&4 but after trying it I think it’ll be too hard for them. But I personally love it. I didn’t think I’d get sucked into something I got for my kids but I did lol. It’s very calming. The writing is all in another language (maybe Japanese) so I was unable to read anything on the product but the picture illustrates just using the same color square sheets of fabric that’s on the picture itself and poke them in. I did and everything went well. I enjoyed it so much. The ONLY thing I really wish was different about this product is that the little fabric sheets come in a clear plastic bag and have no organization to them what so ever. There’s all the colors crammed into one bag and you have to search for your colors. I’d love to see a product like this with separated color fabrics that are organized and easy to find. I do recommend this product I would do kids 6 and up. ... show more

I got this to take to school for a couple of the kids who are working on fine motor control and hand strengthening. I figured they would really enjoy this kit. However, my own kids, who are 11 and 13, got hold of these and absolutely loved doing them. A couple of things to know...the box and therefore the instructions are not in English. It's mostly self explanatory but you might need to know this, especially if it's for a gift. The backs are adhesive. We didn't realize this until we were a good ways through the box, so you can attach it to a background for more creative play/crafting if you want to. It does take some strength to push the fabric into place so really young kids probably can't do this on their own. You can pre-punch the holes and make it a little easier though. ... show more

Hours of fun to be had. This reminds me of a craft I did as a kid. We stuck material into Styrofoam balls to make ornaments. This is the same concept, but easier and cuter. This kit would make a great gift.

This is so simple, yet so entertaining! I am always looking for a craft to do with my granddaughter. She is going to love this one, as she is just getting into the more intricate kinds of crafts. I also love that it is very portable, and would make a nice “Here we are at the restaurant and the kids need something to do!” craft. There should be more than enough of the tiny poly fabric squares to fill the holes in all the figures. This would be a nice kit for boys as well, as there are animal figures besides just the princesses lol. Extra points for the sparkle in the poke stick. ... show more

This set of poke painting is my favorite so far because there are only 4 boards with dresses (I do lovethe dresses) and the rest is unisex. Since this craft activity started I struggled to find gender neutral boards. I love that these come in a box instead of the spiral books, I like the idea of a booklet but usually the rings are cheaply made and you can't turn the pages easily.
