I have a sump pump to reinstall in my crawl space using 1 1/2" pvc pipe. I thought this tool would make the job go easier and faster. The overall tool length is 17" and the main body appears to be aluminum. A magnet will not stick to it. It should do the job fine.     • Good product for the price
Worked well on 1 1/2” pvc pipe. Did have to loosen the blade nut and use wd40 to get the arms to open up freely but it works great now. Saved a lot of time vs sawing.

    • Works well, not for whimps
I ordered this to cut 2 inch schedule 40 pvc. I cut around 20 pieces and the tool worked well from start to finish. Cutting the 2 inch is not for weakling, even though this is a large tool. It is probably not for ladies. The teeth on ratchet should be smaller, and closer spaced, making for shorter and a few more cycles when cutting. It may be easier if you have to cut something smaller, say 1 1/2 inch schedule 40 pvc. That said it was a good buy, and I would buy it again. ... show more

Great pair of cutters I have a pair that cut smaller pipe up to 3/4”. These take a bit more effort cutting 2” but gets the job done great.

Love this cutter! I installed 2 inch ABS piping in a tight crawlspace. The longer handles gave me good leverage and saving me crawling out every time I need to make a cut. Nice square cuts. As a note with this cutter you have to apply a twisting motion to the pipe your cutting on thinner walled pipes so the cut will start without cracking the pipe. Turn the pipe back and fourth while applying pressure and the sharp cutter will score and then cut the pipe. ... show more

Probably the most useless and poorly performing tool of all time. If no stars was an option, I would have rated it thusly. The cutting blade was jammed in so tightly that you would need to pry it out of place each time you tried to use this cutter and, as other reviewers also point out, this is not a cutter but rather a breaker tool as it fails to cut through PVC and only shatters PVC pipe into useless pieces. No wonder it is so cheap. And still, it is completely useless. ... show more

    • Big, a little clunky, but did the job
I feel a bit like Mik Dundee in the knife scene in NYC. That's not a knife, THIS is a knife. This is PVC pipe cutter. I bought FOUR different ones from Amazon and Lowes, each claiming to be able to handle up to 1 1/5 inch rated PVC pipe and with none of them could I get the jaws of the tool around the pipe. This one? I could probably take my leg off with it if I were of a mind to. It's YUUUUGE. That said, I only needed it for one cut. It did the job on a 1.5" standard PVC. Made several cuts that were clean and straight. It's better with two people and one holding the pipe. These are LARGE! I had to look up a video online to see how to use it since there were no instructions. This may save you some time: pull the handles apart to open up the blade. ... show more
