I've picked up a pair or so of adjustable skates and roller blades for my girls over the years and more typical than not usually the draw back is that you trade snugness around the ankle/calf for adjustability, which good mean less support on the ankles and perhaps a more unstable feel. When first learning this could be an issue but if your kid knows how to skate or roller blade than its not too be a deal. The good part of these skates is they have a snugger fit than most adjustable skates we've had in the past, to that I say well done. The wheels and all are designed to be used (in my opinion) both outside and for indoor rinks overall, meaning not overdesigned for one environment over the other which is good too even though we rarely get to the skating rink still its nice to not change wheels or skates if and when we do get to the rink. Both of my kids wanted to use the skates and I only had one pair so I used a leaf toss to decide who got to use them first. I didn't have any coins to do a coin toss. The skates have a set of laces, Velcro strap, and a cinch down strap across the shin. I got the medium size and both of my boys 5 and 7 yrs old could use the skates they were size 1 1/2 and size 2 big kids shoes. The wheels when spun light up with a sparkle of colors which my youngest loved the lights and the deep blue color. I thought I would be able to get some pictures of them skating but they wanted me to hold them as they kept failing down while they tried to skate on the basketball court at the local park. It's a really nice pair of beginner skates for young kids they light up and the colors make them look fancy and the straps really hold their feet inside the skates. They skated less than 20 minutes and mostly because they kept falling on their behinds, they had wrist guards, elbow guards, and knee pads but no butt pads. Hopefully they will keep at it and learn to skate well. I remember when I was a kid growing up I use to go to the skate park on the weekends for disco nights. ... show more

These are super cute! These are solid feeling skates that seem built well enough to actually last the years my girls should get out of them. Such a far cry from the old days where “adjustable skates” meant some metal contraption that attached to your shoe with shoelaces and straps or plastic that really didn't roll very well. The skates are very sturdy with all of the boot being well attached and a solidly built frame with adjustable, light up wheels. The padding is good enough for a beginner and should be comfortable enough to wear awhile once they're skating at an intermediate level. This set thoughtfully includes extra laces, toe stop, and various hardware pieces and tools that may need replacement in the future. Importantly, an instruction book on how to properly wear and maintain the skates is included and does a decent job of covering those tasks. My son had been asking to try skating and I thought these looked perfect when I saw them. I believe I ordered the “little kid” size and it fits my 4 year old son who wears size 10 kid shoes perfectly. The skates have some weight to it and feel very well made. It has good laces and straps so his feet feel like they’re in there really well, but he says they’re still comfortable. The wheels light up rainbow colors and looks so cool. We were both thrilled. Cute girls' skates. Brakes are on both skates. They are nice because the boot part locks in, so it does not slide around inside the plastic skate. Wheels rolls very smoothly. They lace, Velcro and ratchet strap down. Comes with one replacement brake, one set of laces, and some bolts. Nice quality girls' skates. Would recommend. ... show more

My daughter got these to work on her skating. She had a regular, older pair of skates, but loved the look of these skates instantly. Normally she would wear a woman's size 9, and she said these fit comfortably. She did move them out to their maximum setting, but they still feel and look secure. When moving them out just remember you are pulling the front of the boot, not the skate, forward. As an added bonus the wheels light up, which we missed when selecting them. Total Bonus!!! They also come with a small tool set and a spare toe stop. She said even with the boot pull forward they still feel sturdy, and as she puts it "didn't feel anything weird when I rolled on them." Now we'll have to move to getting her sister a pair as these are excellent and a great buy!!!! ... show more

I was worried I purchased the wrong size for my son but when they got here they were so adjustable that they fit no problem with future room to grow! I am so excited about the adjustable sizing where the forefoot can lengthen or shorten with the push of a button! These will last for a long time. The rest of the skate adjusts by shoelaces, velcro, and a cinch buckle. The wheels light up which is a bonus and excites the kids. My son picked up on skating quickly (though still working on it) for his first time which tells me the wheels aren't sticky and are quite responsive. Also, the skates come with extra parts (extra brake pads and wheel parts to replace) when things start wearing out from use. This was a great finding.
