When the air is moderately low, the moisture on the surface of the soil tends to evaporate. If leca balls is placed on the surface of the pot, it can effectively slow down the rate of water evaporation.
- Permeability: The loose structure of hydroponic clay pebbles growing media and the internal voids facilitate soil permeability, get rid of excess acidity, prevent plant decay and protect the fragile roots of plants. When hydro balls is placed at the bottom of the pot as a drainage layer, it promotes drainage and increases the breathability inside the pot.

The media could not be loaded. These are so tiny and cute. I needed them specifically for my mini orchids so they were perfect. If purchasing for larger plants just be aware of the size and amount.

Although many had already reviewed these and commented on how tiny the bag was, I thought I was prepared. But, I wasn't. There was just barely enough for a small to medium pot. Next time I'll go to the dollar store. I didn't need anything decorative; I just needed good drainage. If you don't mind the quantity, these are great.

What I ordered versus what I got were disappointing. I thought I was getting a bag of clay pearls. I got a vacuum sealed COUNTED TO THE VERY EXACT NUMBER tiny pearls. I got exactly 50 pearls in both orders and they were layed out and vacuum sealed. I really felt cheated based on the photo. 50 pearls isn't very many. Once I broke the seal it was literally only the bottom of the bag. Like maybe 1/25 of the bag. It wasn't even 1/4 of the bag. It was essentially nothing. I do not recommend this product. They feel like resin, they don't even feel like clay. Go to your local hardware shop or greenhouse and get some. These aren't worth it.
