  • Very well made, easy operation, does take work to put together -- a couple of tips here
It takes some time to put together but it is well designed, well constructed, everything goes together as it should, and it's very clever -- the table folds up and opens down very easily. The net is well designed. Putting it together requires some work but it's all solid and made right. I have two comments to help people put it together -- these really should be mentioned in the instructions: First, take note that there are bolts of different sizes that look similar. They are numbered in the hardware list and the instructions mention the correct numbers to use, but unless you take special note of the differences you might miss it as I did and at the end I had to remove and replace a few longer bolts with shorter ones in order to put together the final support. Not a big problem but if they could specifically call your attention to it in the instructions, especially the first time you need one of the bolts, it would be helpful. The other thing that should be in the instructions -- the metal strut has an indentation in one side to fit a nut later on. If the indentation is placed toward the inside of the table, the spacer on the other side lays in better. It still works the other way, but there's no reason they couldn't mention this in the instructions. Weight was 210lbs plus 60lbs for palette, so 270 off the truck. Some of weight is for protective wood all around it, and some for the metal struts, legs, etc., so you can take it all apart and carry the two table halves separately to where you need them. Still, it's pretty heavy so you need 2 or 3 people for handling the tables. Well worth it all! Great table for both regular play and for solo practice with one table up. ... show more

  • 3 stars for what should be a 5 star table
5 star table but here is why I can only give 3 stars: Quick hits for consideration: I spent several hours reviewing ping pong tables and narrowed my choice to 3: Stiga Insta Play, Stiga STS 185 and Jolla Inside Ping Pong table. I settled on the Stiga 185 for the blue color, the ball holders and the comment by Stiga in the answered question section that this table has been converted to the InstaPlay technology. Perhaps, Stiga thinks InstaPlay means 3 hour assembly time. Delivery: on time. Table comes protected with a particle board bumper and cardboard container. The base, legs, linkage, mounting brackets in the box. Assembly: 25 step process that involves 154 screws, 36 bolts, plus the various nuts and washers to assembly the base support, corners and sides. It is a two person job but best with 3 when you have the base assembled to lift each side of the table up and ease it down on the base. Quality of Table: Wonderful color and absolutely easy to raise either side to play solo. Net is solid. Ball Storage: Bonus feature of the ball storage in the table is a game changer. No chasing balls after each point. Simply gather up the balls at the end of the game. A much better experience. Certainly a wonderful table if you are willing to put in the time for assembly. This should last our family for years of play. Hopefully, Stiga will address the InstaPlay feature/comment for others and hopefully, I am the only one who was sent a table that had to be completely assembled. ... show more

  • Good quality and great customer support
The table was sold by Amazon but supplied by Escalade Sports. The packaged arrived slightly damaged on one side, but we decided to accept it anyway after making a note of that on the shipment invoice in case we had to return it later. We noticed that three out of the four white bars under the wooden table were bent, and called Escalade Sports to check if they can provide replacement parts to fix them. They were very responsive handling this case, and the parts were delivered within three weeks. Escalade Sports certainly deserves a high mark for their service, although I know some other reviewers had a different experience The assembly instructions were very clear, and it took about two hours to put it together. There is still a gap of about 5mm between the two plates that we could not be cleared even when the plates are perfectly parallel and their height is the same, but it does not affect the way the net is mounted. Other than that, we really like the table and enjoy having it in our basement. ... show more

  • Not as well made an all say.
After reading many reviews of ping pong tables for our family we chose this one - deciding to splurge on what was supposed to be a high quality table. The assembly was fine - despite many other reviews complaining about this. What is not fine - which no one mentions ( how can this be?) is that the table is not made of high quality materials and is next to impossible to have the two sides align. The top of the supposed well-made table seems to warp in the center. At least to our eye - feeling cheap. But the big problem is that the two sides don't align. The space between them at the net changes from 1" to 2". The directions give no clue as to how to align these, it assumes that the space is equal. We are frustrated with how cheap this makes the whole thing look. It does not feel like you are playing on a quality product. ... show more

  • Much better than I was expecting!
I was very impressed with the delivery and handling of my package. ABF delivered, which in my experience is way better than UPS or FEDEX. All the pieces were accounted for and intact. The table took about 2.5 hrs to put together with one person.... however you will need help lifting the table pieces onto the base. Be careful with the net attachment and read the instructions carefully. I would buy extra ball chain for the string tension on the net.... It doesn't seem to be long enough. All that being said once I got the thing together I invited a large group over for a ping pong tourney, and everybody really enjoyed the table and we plan on playing more often. Well worth the price. ... show more
