    • Lovely boots, not for slick surfaces

These boots (I got brown) are beautiful and fit pretty nicely. They are snug to the foot but the ankle area is a bit loose even on the tightest lacing. The zippers seem sturdy and the boots were comfortable the first time I put them on. They will take some time to break in and could probably use insoles since there isn’t much arch support. Finally, the soles are nearly smooth so I don’t think these would be great for hiking, but they should be awesome riding boots or for general wear. I’m happy with them. ... show more

Bought this as a replacement for the same boot I've had for about 10 years. Same Steve Madden Troopa Boot. The new version however has plastic zippers. I certainly don't expect them to last nearly as long as my first pair. If only quality counted anymore...

I like to be stylish, but I don't find much use in wearing heels every day. When I first got these boots I thought "steampunk". I like to wear them to work with a deep red dress. They're not heavy looking, they look utilitarian and feminine at the same time.

My third pair in several years. I wear them constantly and love these boots. They are leather and feel cooler to wear than many fake leather boots. They are well made. I buy myself a new pair every year because I wear them so much. Cute with many outfits. Highly recommend these.

For reference, I have narrow feet, ankles. These boots fit well at my usual size. They are comfortable. As other reviewers have pointed out, lacing them all the way to the top won't work for average to narrow ankles. Since I plan to wear them half-laced this isn't a concern for me. NOTE: Color was quite a bit different from picture: they are more light beige than light grey. ... show more

Size: 7 Color: Black Leather
These boots are amazing. Strangers complement them on the streets. They dress up for work, but are casual enough for a walk. I use them 3-4 times a week during fall, winter, and well into spring and they last me about 2 years when I wear through the inner fabric. Same thing every other year since 2014. Never have to break them in, the sole is flexible and the laces give a good degree of adjustability in the width. The zipper closure is fantastic because once you get the sweet spot with the laces, you never have to undo them. The leather is wonderfully soft and you don’t need socks that are terribly thick, which helps make them so versatile. They’re fairly water resistant and survive puddles and sleet, and even ice to some degree, but the lack of tread does poorly in snow. Every few years I wonder if I should try to a boot with more tread, but as long as the snow isn’t fresh and fluffy these do fine, so I come right back for more. ... show more

    • I got lucky but you might not

So I impulse bought these because they're exactly what I need for a number of my outfits and I didn't really read the reviews before I ordered. Once I did read all the reviews about fakes and boots falling apart I panicked a bit but didn't cancel my order because I have had really good luck on Amazon so far. My biggest buys being my laptop two pairs of docs and some timberlands and everything has been authentic despite some reviews saying they were fake. THE POINT IS I do think there are people piggy backing fakes into real orders I have no idea how but I think it has something to do with where you live. I live near shipping ports and all my orders come quickly and are right. I think if you live somewhere more remote the likely hood of fakes is bigger. So trust your gut and past ordering experiences and make sure you have a foolproof return method on anything pricey. The boots (if real) are perfect and smell leathery and wonderful. ... show more
