This is my second pair of these if that says something. A pair of boots usually will only last me 6-7 months even a pair of Danners or keens. I’ve worn these every day since I got them over 1.5 years ago and they are still going strong with no tears or separation from the soul whatsoever, I live on a sailboat and I’m constantly in and out of the saltwater with them and they are quite waterproof and even hold up in a harsh salty environment, which usually destroys leather boots very quickly. When you first get these, they are going to be very stiff and uncomfortable because they are made out of the real stuff and you are going to need to be a man and break them in, after that, you are good to go for a few years! Good points: Looks Great! Not so good points: Very poor fit - it's runs too narrow. The insoles have absolutely no cushioning or arch support. If you try to add an insole your foot won't fit in the shoe. After over a month of breaking it in walking in this boot is still a painful experience. Feels poorly constructed with low quality materials - the sole seems to be especially flimsy The tongue is gusseted all the way to the top but the zipper is not (these boots are not water resistant anyway) Since the tongue is fully gusseted it is hard to get it to sit evenly across across the laces Expected a better boot from the Madden label. Hopefully there will be a version 2 that fits better. ... show more

I love the look of all the steve madden shoes that I have gotten from amazon. They all however are not top of the line quality, leather is thinner than expected, fits a little stiff, and the sole can come unglued over time. I simply glue mine and happen to fit the shoe well so the stiffness isn't a problem. But like I said I love the look and they feel great on my feet. I gave four stars rather than five because this style is a little tough to get on and off, even with the very necessary zipper, and I can tell that over time it will wear out were I have to put strain on the leather. Apparently I am I Steve Madden boots fan because this is my second pair and I didn't do it on purpose. The other ones i have are the dual front zipper style with the buckle on the side, and they're the Best! Got them on clearance at a Steve Madden store for peanuts! I love these boots too! They are very comfortable, the tread is sticky, and excellent, they look awesome, they are light, and flexible and seem very well made. These are not stiff heavy clunky boots though they kind of look and feel that way at first. Even the sole has a decent flex. You could absolutely sneak around in these boots like a ninja without clomping everywhere. Like nearly any leather boot they are a bit stiff at first, but they break in fast, and become quite soft and very comfortable. I was a bit concerned out of the box that they were going to be too stiff and uncomfortable but they really became pliable and form fitting. So far I have no complaints. Unless they spontaneously combust I think we're all good. Steve Madden seems to make a quality boot. ... show more

I actually really love these boots. I bought them thinking I would wear them only once in a while but I try to wear them every day if I can get away with it. When you get them they were a little uncomfortable around the ankles (may have laced them too tight) but I stuck with them for a few days and they loosened up. They are a tad narrow looking down on them like people are saying, but that really doesn’t bother me. They are a combat boot style so it’s what you are getting. I like lacing them all the way up or half way (there is a little notch that is perfect for wrapping them around the top of the boot if you look close). Bottom line, I’m into them and get compliments. Can’t wait to break them in even more. I’m very tempted to get the brown ones too. Btw, my picture shows them really dusty from wearing them around our office remodel. They are not really as ashy looking out of the box. I don’t wipe them down because I kinda like it. ... show more

I love the style in these boots and bought them for a 3rd time...yes 3rd time in the last 4 years i think. I do over wear them not gonna lie but they are not that comfortable at first, they are pretty tight and my foot has no weird shape or anything it's just how the boot is made the top part is super tight and uncomfortable to wear the first 3 months....but this time was even $60 cheaper so I thought I'll endure some pain for another 2 months, ha! ... show more
