  • One of the best basses you can buy for the price.
Color: Lake Blue Metallic
Construction is excellent, and I love playing on this as much as my higher end basses. The tuners and bridge may not be the best quality hardware, but they are functional and really do not leave much room for complaint. The pickups and preamp can be a bit muddy, and are not nearly as nice sounding as what comes in the higher end Sterlings, like the Ray 35HH, but I wouldn't say it sounds terrible. The pickups have ceramic magnets, which I'm not the biggest fan of, and they are a bit on the hot side, but still, you can get some really good sounds out of it. The basswood body does not feel cheap like some of the lower priced instruments I've played on. The fretwork is really nice, as is the neck. I was able to set it up with lower action than a lot of higher end instruments that I own. The one I purchased is advertised as "Lake Blue Metallic" but I swear, it looks silver to me. I've seen another of these in the wild that also looked silver. Not that it looks bad in any way, but if you are expecting any shade of blue at all, you may be disappointed. As a beginner if you are looking for a Stingray style bass, but don't want to kill your bank, This is the ticket. If you are looking for something inexpensive to gig with, or a platform to mod this would be a good choice. One thing to note: If you are planning on changing the pickups on the 5 string model, because of the ears, or tab design of these pickups, you will be limited as far as "drop in" options go. Aguilar has a set that will drop in, but the pole pieces are for a wider string spacing, so you would probably want to swap the bridge and I think that would put the strings right on the very edge of the fingerboard. Nordstrand does custom string spacing, so you could get drop ins from them, but you would end up spending as much on pickups as the price of this bass. Not a deal killer for me, because the stock pickups are decent enough. ... show more

  • Craftsmanship lacking
Color: Olive
I hate buying MM on line! You never know what neck you’re going to get. This one is slightly crooked on the g string side. Other side is perfectly flat with adjustment. Can’t get the action we’re I like it. I’ve had way better luck with their SUB line out of Guitar Center.

  • Merry Christmas to ME!
Color: Lake Blue Metallic
I had always wanted an affordable Music Man Stingray 5-string in this color of blue. I only gave it a "3" for Beginners because I think this is too much guitar for beginners. It needed to be set up because the action was MUCH too high for me, but I would have taken it get setup with my strings on it anyway. I'm VERY satisfied. ... show more

  • Most bang for your buck
Color: Olive
What an awesome bass. I have played high end (Lakland) basses that didn't look and (most importantly) played, and sounded this good. Digging the green color. Delivered well packaged and un-damaged. Pickups are very hot. Lots of versatility in the p/u selector. Stock strings are OK. I replaced with Ernie Ball slinky. Nice and punchy now. Lots of bass for the money. You won't be dissapointed. ... show more

  • great sounding bass
Color: Lake Blue Metallic
Fantastic sounding bass. Love the low B. Only reason I took off a star was, it arrived with a broken tuning peg so, I had to run and go get one from guitar center before I could play her.. I'm using black beauties from DR.
