Just received this today and I'm really pleased! I wanted something to take when I am going to have to wait in lines and for walks, as I have lumbar problems but I can walk more if I can just sit for a minute sometimes. I think it's going to be great. It sets up and folds down in just a moment, and requires no strength to do it. It's lighter than I even expected, very easy to carry. I am only 5 foot 2, so I bought the shortest one, and it is just the right length for me to use as a cane if I need to. As of now I don't need to use a cane, although I do use a trekking pole for anything more than a short walk on a totally flat surface, and I think this can replace the trekking pole for medium grade walks. I would probably not take this on very difficult or rocky terrain, but I can't really do that kind of hiking anymore anyway. To sit on, the Ta-Da Cane is extremely stable. It feels safer than a lot of flimsy folding chairs I have sat on! Obviously it is not quite as stable on grass or an uneven surface but if you are careful you can still do it. I wish it was a little less expensive so more people could have it. The only thing I might add is a wrist strap. There's a plastic part that comes out of the handle to hang it on the back of your chair, but it's not comfortable to hang off your wrist. That's minor though. Overall I'm very pleased; I think it's going to greatly improve my comfort and my ability to get out and do things... and not let my back pain limit my life.

This cane is very very easy to use. It really is as easy as in the promotional videos. You can open it up in a single movement. You can close it in a single movement. The three-legged seat is hardy and steady. Unlike the closest competitor, it is easy to use it on uneven ground. I wish I had had this a month ago, when I was walking around the snowy rim of a beautiful canyon. It would have extended my walking range without my having to sit in the snow. I look forward to a much more active way of exploring new places. The manufacturer urges us to make sure that a certain tab fits into a certain slot for safety reasons, and in practice I never have to check on this, because it always lines up perfectly and securely. I understand the need for the warning. The design of the sitting-cane really does remove the need to check. It's made to be safe. The cane is designed to do two things: Function as a walking stick, and function as a seat. It does both of those things very very well, with no complications. The cane is a bit on the heavy side (2.2 pounds). The closest competitor weights about the same. It's heavier than the sitting-cane that I have used until now, but it provides so much more comfort! If you can afford it, I recommend this sitting-cane.

The chair works perfectly: easy to set up, easy to close, sturdy enough for my 220 pounds. But even the long version isn’t long enough for me (I’m 6’4”) to usefully use as a cane. Another two inches long and this would easily rate five stars.

After actually using our Ta-Da chairs on a two week trip to Scotland, I'm upgrading my review from four to five stars. On excursions, we often end up standing for 15 minutes while listening to our guide. We simply and quickly convert the handy, light-weight canes into chairs, which provides a far more pleasant walking/stopping/standing experience. Many on our tour were impressed and asked where we had purchased them. Yes, they're much more expensive than competitors, but this is the real deal: lightweight and supports us, ahem, "oversized" people. You won't be able to pack them in luggage, but they come with a convenient carrying pouch that can be slung over your back. (TSA is somewhat perplexed to encounter the pouches, which could be used to disguise a rifle or sword, but once the officer sees what's inside, there's no issue making it through security.) I just ordered this item, and haven't yet used it in real time. However, I tried it out. Here's my initial reaction: 1. It's expensive. I don't mind paying a premium price, providing it's an outstanding product. 2. Is it an outstanding product? Not quite sure, at least not yet. 3. I'm impressed that it's lightweight and, indeed, is sufficiently compact to serve as both a cane and a chair. 4. However, it's a bit tricky to actually sit down. And, my experimental attempt was on our living room floor. My guess is that it will not inspire confidence on on-even or soft surfaces. (With that said, the instructions suggest that useage should be limited to even, hard, level surfaces.) 5. It seems to be well made, fairly sturdy, and easy to turn from a cane into a seat. I'll update my review after I actually use this product. So, we're tried this out. It's expensive. I'm not sure the extra expense is worth it, but we're so pleased that I ordered a second unit for my wife. It's sturdy, light-weight and easy to set up. We plan to take this on our next trip, which will be to Scotland. I'll report our experience upon our return.

Bought this for travels with the grandkids. We recently attended a town festival with limited seating options for my arthritic back relief--frequent issue. Popped out my Ta-Da seat and rested weary bones while the kiddos enjoyed rides, booths, and contests under my watchful eye. Exactly what I needed--lightweight, compact, sturdy, easy to use, works well as a stabilizing walking stick over uneven terrain. More travels with the grandkids coming soon. This Ta-Da seat will come along, too.
