I saw this fantastic link through various web surfing, only to find that the places in the article quoted were sold out. On a lark, I checked Amazon, and booyah, here it is. I ordered it despite the feedback saying it was flimsy...I mean, it's a novelty ice cube tray. If I have to carry it via plate to the freezer...that's fine. It's worth it. I can only guess how the "flimsy" feedback-giver was carrying the tray...perhaps on his (or her) head? Maybe slung over the back of their Tauntaun? In any case, moving this tray with, say, both hands, works quite well. The smaller ice cubes are a little smaller than I thought they would be. I couldn't visualize how big they'd be, and in the actual product, they're as long as my thumb and a little thinner. The big mold is *almost* large enough to hold a regular sized figurine to give you an idea of length and width. All in all...I hope to be cooling my adult beverage with a few frozen Han ice cubes tomorrow! ... show more

I bought these as a gag gift for a buddy during Christmas. Needless to say, I'm a huge Star Wars fan and was extremely excited about getting this. I wanted to use the tray to build ice cubes (obviously), and was very disappointed by the shallowness of the tray. The ice cubes come out very small because of it. In fact, the large mold was really the only cube that came out acceptable. The tray is also very bendable (basically rubber), and I thought it could use a little more rigidity. I gave this as a gift and they absolutely loved it. It's so unique and random - something great for a Star Wars fan. The ice cubes came out good, the only complaint is that there was too much air in the water I used so the ice cubes were white and opaque instead of clear. That made the design details hard to see. Also since the ice cubes are thin and have so much surface area, they melt pretty quickly. Overall it was a good price for a fun gift. It functions OK for an ice cube tray, but it's not really meant to be a great ice cube maker - it's meant as a novelty toy. ... show more

This product is great. I bought this as a gift for my younger brother because he loves Star Was even more than I do. He was thrilled about this. This has multiple uses and some work better than others. For ice this is just okay. It's hard to really see some of the detail and only being having 6 small sized molds makes this sub-ideal as an ice tray. But it still is pretty darn cool. This mold is somewhat more suited toward food use. My brother and I found a recipe for gummy candy and used this mold for it. The candies turned out great. The candy picks up the details much better than the ice and since the candy doesn't take as long to set it's much more practical. We used this and the R2-D2 mold so one would set while we filled the other. It works great for chocolate as well. Being made of food grade silicone this tray can be used for a lot. Many of its uses it does very well but if you're buying it solely to use as an ice tray you may find yourself slightly disappointed with the level of detail in your ice. When I started to write this review, Amazon asked me if I was over 13 years old. WTF? I think that is because this item lives in the "toy" area. Point of fact: the ONLY people I know who are even REMOTELY excited about having Han Solo-in-carbonite ice cubes are over the age of 40. Honestly, this is not a toy in any meaningful sense of the word. It is a deliriously dork-tastic accessory to round out one's collection of Yoda PEZ dispensers, Chewbacca bedroom slippers, and that Tauntaun sleeping bag you know you have on your loveseat. What is there not to love about these? It's Han in friggin' carbonite! If I could afford the full-size replica with the blinking lights, it would already be in my living room. This tray works great for making Hon Solo ice cubes, but when used with choclate or soap I actually find the quality to be higher and the level of detail more pronounced than with ice. Some have claimed that the tray is flimsy, and this is kinda true, you need to put it on a plate or cutting board to transport it to the freezer. Also it has been noted that this is small, also true, but if you want cool Han Solo novelty ice it works great, if you are looking to replace your ice tray, probably not such a great purchase. Cool idea. However, the actual ice cubes don't really live up the the expectation. The little ones are teeny-tiny and look nothing like what the cast should look like. The larger one is disappointing as well. It doesn't looks impressive at all. I have a few novelty ice trays with cool shapes and they are all pretty rad. This one kinda sucks compared to the rest. If you're looking for cool ice shapes, go for the big simple shapes, not something like this. ... show more

It's OK and fun. As ice cubes, the larger unit is cool and you can easily make out details of Han in Carbonite. The smaller "cubes" are useless and you can in no way make out any detail at all as ice cubes. As a chocolate mold, not too bad, better than ice and although not movie authentic, if you mix in colors to get the detail and then go with a different background chocolate color, it looks even better, even on the small ones. Three stars is a little high, but two is low. they are better off going with three large molds instead of six small and one large. ... show more
