  • Great Box, But Expensive
Update, May 2021: Just bought another one, for a total of four. The previous three are still in active service, and I came right back to this box for the latest sports club application. It's so durable, so versatile, and holds so much, this is just the right item to use. It holds a ton and even if highly loaded, it's piece of cake for even young people to pull along. Great box, good price, super-durable. Great item. ------- Update, April 2016: I now own three of these for a youth sports program. They are super-durable, watertight for rain and mud and weather, serve as a great seat and way to secure team gear, and are now cheaper than before, with no shipping costs. This product and its deal just keep getting better. ------------------------------------------- I like this product a lot. In fact, I've bought two for my youth sports program, and may well buy another one or two in the future. They are extremely sturdy, and the fact that they have an extendable handle and wheels means that even a box that weighs a good 100 pounds can still be rolled across a parking lot or field by a 10-year-old kid. The box is good for sitting, and it's weather-proof, meaning you can carry a lot of gear into questionable environments knowing it's not going to get wet or muddy. And it's washable, with all of your gear inside. I've had one of these for four years now and the other for three, and both continue to perform excellently, with no breakdowns, broken pieces or hardware failures. It locks with a relatively lightweight lock. But at the same time, the lock is molded into the plastic lid, and any kind of attempt to get into this box when is locked is going to result in the box's destruction, so that's a sufficient deterrent. Inside is a single removable tray that is good for smaller loose items. Beware the metal closing hardware. They fold up or down fully, and are guarded by plastic on both sides. But if they are open, with the flat part of the locking latches extended outward/perpendicular to the box, they situate right at the level of the knee for grown-ups, and right along the upper thigh for kids. Both adults and kids--including me--have been cut quite nicely by running into the open closures. My only real complaint is that, man, is this thing expensive. I mean, really, almost $130 for molded plastic and some hardware? I don't really see it, but then again, it's a great product. I have seen nothing comparable for a better price, so I very likely will end up getting more in the future. ... show more

  • No keys!
Happy with the chest itself, but it came with no keys! I wasn't planning on using the included lock, but according to the information the keys should had been included. I guess if I get desperate, I'll just buy a padlock and lock it that way.

  • Stanley makes good stuff
Bought it to store 4 car batteries that I use for UPS power system. Four car batteries fit nicely and the little tray inside holds the power switch. There's actually some holes in the back when the bar slides out for the power cables to come out. (Yeah, can't push the handle all way in, but didn't want to drill a hole...yet.) I was expecting the center of gravity to be a bit better as even with the handle fully retracted, it seem to be a bit of work to move the unit, but I have 200 pounds in it. Overall, I like the thick phasic and strong lid. ... show more

  • Fits everything
I am a 4-H Dairy Goat Leader and I needed to get a big enough storage holder for all the 4h equipment I needed. This Stanley storage tool box popped up and it fit perfectly. It holds 5 5 gallon buckets, clippers with extra blades, hay feeder, cool spray, hoof trimmers, hose, and shampoo for the clubs needs for the show animals. ... show more

  • I bought one of these a year ago....
I like the trunk. I bought it back sometime about April 2013. I paid about $58.00 on some promotional scheme. It's a good trunk. Is it worth $58.00? Hardly..., but that's the way it goes. It is a good trunk. It is by no means waterproof. Those who say it is, I just don't understand their reasoning. It's got plenty of little openings through which water can easily make its way inside if wind is blowing. Asking 150+ dollars (?!?)...somebody's doin' some serious crack. Get it at H.D. for something about what I paid. It's still priced high at, say, 60 bucks, but there isn't anything else that I can find that is its equivalent in size---- good trunk but too expensive makes it a problem. Update: About an hour after first writing this review, I took a drive down to H.D. I found a Husky product that blows the Stanly box completely out of the running. The same size -- seemingly roomier due to molding technique -- this trunk is absolutely devoid of any openings that would allow water to enter et cetera across the board. Stanly should stop making its version. It's junk by comparison. The Husky box seems more ridged and better quality as well. I bought one right there on the spot, brought it home, and then I liked it so much, I got back in the car, drove back to H.D. and bought another. It's good stuff. Oh, the cost was $63 and change -- out the door on each one including Uncle Sam's share. That's all I have to say about THAT. 2nd UPDATE: I just bought two more of these. They ARE that good. Thinking of throwing out the Stanly box...maybe use it for dirty plumbing waste parts. Nah, I'll probably give it to the garbage man. ... show more

  • Tool box? No thanks. Tack box? PERFECT!
I was really glad to read some equestrians' reviews before purchasing this, so I'm adding mine on. This is actually better than a tack box--and for less money! For those who don't want to measure like me (did I mention that I don't need a tool box?), the first picture is in the back of my Tucson to get an idea of size. Inside is so spacious! I have plenty of room for everything that I need--and then some! I also love the little caddy because it's the perfect place for grooming tools--just grab and go! As for the rest of the inside, I might need to buy more things for my horse. :) ... show more
