These are quite a bit cheaper than most shutter hold backs out there and they wound up looking fairly nice. BUT I am not sure about the quality of them overall. as is- out of the box, you need to do something to them to keep them from flopping around so much- I just went to the hardware store and got extra 'lock' washers to put on between the bolt head and the little PIN they give you to lock it in place. (so you can rotate the metal hold back piece and NOT the entire BOT assembly. so that was an extra several hours to install it all including the trip[p for parts. ... show more

I like the way they look. I have not put them on the shutters yet. I am a bit concerned about the long screws used to attach them. They are beautifully made though.w

These shutter dogs do the job well with a nice, vintage look. You will need anchors for installation on masonry (which is I how I installed them), but it's not that complicated. Amazon had these items at considerably less than anyone else in town...

It sounds kind of funny that shutter holdbacks are not suited for outside use. I installed them on my new shutters last fall. By this spring the holdbacks were rusted that's less than 6 months. Now I have to take them down and paint them with rustolium paint. I would not purchase these holdbacks again. ... show more
