  • Takes a little getting used to but it works extremely well.
I found a great deal on some wood for a loft I was building in my garage. The bad news was a lot of the wood was crooked. After struggling with several pieces, I decided to buy this Stanley tool. BEST purchase I made in a while. I had to learn how to grip the boards correctly, but once I did that, the boards had to straighten up. My next bundle of wood will probably be much straighter, but if there are some crooked boards, I have a tool to fix that! ... show more

  • Good Quality
Would not do another deck job without this Stanley tool. Great design - it just works.

  • A Must Have for Decks
I'm not a deck builder, although I am a carpenter by trade. My area is more interior finish and cabinetry. I built a deck recently for my Mother. I haven't built one in years and def not one this complicated Three things I realized.1) I'm too old to building decks lol 2) The wood your forced to work with is pretty rough 3) You cant do a decent job without this tool.Being a finish carpenter I'm cursed with demanding perfection in my work and that includes doing a deck. I mill all my wood so when I am building a cabinet or doing trim my wood is perfect. Treated wood is certainly not, but its all we have to work with. This tool enables you really bring the boards in exactly where you want them. Its easy to use and the leverage it gives you is incredible. The great thing is, its easy to hold the board in place so you can nail or screw it in. Using a air framing nailer makes quick work of a lot of area and I must admit without this I'm not sure how you could accomplish decent work in a reasonable amount of time.I highly recommend for the builder or the homeowner one of these tools. You wont be disappointed and the frustration you'll avoid is well worth the price. ... show more

  • Deck building
This simple tool was soo useful when building our deck. It helps pull the boards tight before fastening. Very easy to use., worth every penny. We have used this tool for both pressure treated wood and now for composite decking... It works like a charm.

  • Finally, something priced right and super helpful.
I've struggled through DIY decks for years using a hammer and chisel to bend the decking to my will. I took on a 1000 square foot deck project using redwood and instantly knew I needed better leverage. I was gulping at the price of some tools, but then fell in love with the price of this Stanley bender. It has outperformed my expectations. It is made of quality metal. It has a versatile switchable head that is very useful once you get used to it. In short, this thing has helped me straighten a lot of boards with no signs of stopping. ... show more

  • Strong and long
The problem with most of the beam tweakers I have tried so far is they are not sufficiently strong or long enough. This is a beast of a lever. The trade-off is that it is heavy. It is not building season right now so I have not had a chance to use this thing, but I can already tell it is a level-up on the beast scale and that is what I need. I am tired of wrestling with puny levers, unconvincingly trying to persuade a 2x12 into true and straight. Based on my experience with tools that don't work, this seems to have what it takes...I will update in spring. ... show more

  • Worked Great - Can not be Bent or Broken
I read another review and I think one about how the metal can be easily bent. I think it must have been bogus - or possible Stanley upgraded their product. I've trusted Stanley for years and I was not disappointed. It weighs and acts like it is solid steel bar. Once you understand how it works - a little counter-intuitive - it is a great tough deck tool. It worked great for one person bending and screw setting full 2x6's with hidden edge screws. This thing can not be bent or broken in any range of normal use. ... show more
