  • Great bass for the price. Needs careful shipment.
Color: Natural Semi-Gloss
The bass arrived and appeared built well. Sounded nice. Woody, and action was just about right. Unfortunately the bass was not double boxed and the bass was damaged at the bottom of the body bending the strap post and puncturting the wood. The company, Stagg, was great. They shipped a new one properly double boxed. If not for the first and damaged shipment, the quality of these basses are excellent. Customer service was also excellent. I would buy this bass again. ... show more

  • Great value for the money.
Color: Black
Excellent value for the money. Been playing fretted and fretless for years but everyone of my basses had fretlines on the fretboard. I figured I might as well try an unlined fretless and at this price point, how bad could it be? I was actually surprised how easy it was to play even without the lines. I like it also because it really helps with play by ear training. Great bass for the money...which I think people need to keep in mind with something like this. I did some minor setup, the pups were noisy and would rattle a bit so I changed them to DiMarzios I had already and added a Hipshot drop d. Left the stock stings but will replace with half-wounds when they go... ... show more

  • Sweet looking bass but,…
Color: Black
This black beauty is really nice to look at but, it arrived with two broken knobs. The tone control is unresponsive and one volume knob is totally broken. I want to keep it, so, I’m repairing the instrument at my cost. Luckily, my local music shop is family owned and I’ve had them set up and maintain a few guitars in the past. It’s no wonder that it arrived banged up as it was only packed in a bit of that thin plastic and a cheap box. No second box! Nope what a sad thing to overlook by the shipper. 🥲 ... show more

  • Awesome fretless for the price. Perfect for Jazz, Funk, or Jamrock.
Color: Natural Semi-Gloss
I'm a long time guitarist and although I've played bass before, this is the first I've owned. I decided I wanted a fretless because of the flexibility it offers. This is a perfect place to start. The finger guides on the side of the neck are perfectly marked and it came set up fairly well. I only had to tune it a little. It's very lightweight, in fact, I have regular guitars that are heavier and I was surprised at how light it was. It also feels solid and smooth. I was able to play a few popular bass riffs within minutes and although there are no frets I found it very easy to play the right notes. I plugged it in and played with the tuners a little. I was able to go anywhere from a really fat smooth sound to a melodic popping sound without trouble and with no effects or adjustments on the amp. I was playing Schism by Tool and was able to match the sound with just the tuning knobs and the stock pickups which was pretty impressive to me. I couldn't recommend this bass enough. It's super smooth and sounds great and is perfect for a beginner or an expert. I wouldn't hesitate to bring this to a gig and even feel like I could show off with it a little since it sounds and plays so awesome but is way more affordable than other basses that cost twice as much or more. I did test out a few others from the bigger brands at the guitar shop and honestly, this plays and sounds better. I have no trouble hitting all the notes perfectly and get the same sounds as a fretted bass when I want but also can do cool techniques like sliding artificial harmonics which is impossible on a fretted instrument. I did have a little problem with mine when it arrived today. There's a little bit of damage on the fingerboard where it's like a paper thin piece of the wood is lifting off and there's a crack which is a little sharp. But I contacted Amazon and a replacement is already on its way I just have to drop this one off at a UPS store within the next 30 days. So great customer service. I'm hoping the next one is in perfect condition because I love it so much. I don't think I'll ever find a reason to upgrade in the future either unless something breaks on it or the pickups die which I think is unlikely. I expect this will last me a long time. ... show more

  • Already in love with this fretless!
Color: Natural Semi-Gloss
I added the photo for those of you who may be wondering about the fretboard. If you have ever played a fretless before, you know that a lot of them have line where the frets usually are. This shows you exactly where to press on the fretboard. This bass does not have those lines, but it does of the dots on the rim of the neck. Usually these dots are in the middle of the frets. On this bass, those dots are at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, etc. locations where a fret would be. In the picture I place the fretless on top of my ESP to demonstrate this. They are both 34" scale, and notice how the dots on the fretless line up with the frets on the ESP. That took me a couple of minutes after I tuned it. I thought I had a terrible neck for a few. Some of the other reviews are true, like you may want to get some new pickups if you plan to play anywhere with this, but I just play in my garage now days, so they work fine for me. Very happy with the purchase! ... show more

  • Notes off an inch and a quarter
Color: Black
I've been playing bass for 26 years and have had fretless basses in the past. Here's my problem with this bass; the first noticeable thing is that the fretboard is longer than the neck, causing it to come off the neck by the body a quarter-inch. That's not the biggest problem though. The biggest problem is that they put the dots an inch off all the real notes. I literally had to blacken out all of their note marks on the side of the fretboard facing up, find all the real notes and put my own dots on. You really can't find a fretless bass this affordable, so I took a chance even though I have never heard of Stagg. So with about three hours worth of work, you get a pretty okay bass. The GOOD side is that it's very light, built very well, and it's comfortable. ... show more

  • Fretless w flatwound strings great fun!
Color: Natural Semi-Gloss
Beautiful sound on this bass although a bit heavy but just a joy to play. Love the look and was impressed right out of the box. No neck straightening necessary. Tuned it up and plugged it in. Beautiful instrument.
